Nice, I like the bracket idea. Do you have any pics of it in place?

I tried to snap a pic but its tough to see whats going on. I basically had all the extra junk from the AAN harness stuffed up there  need to find a way to clean it up a bit.

Suspected this was going to happen but I had to re-work the exhaust and get it up higher. I broke my driveway last week hauling an excavator (truck + trailer + excavator = 27,000+ lb) so now I have to be very careful not to scrape.
Re worked the mid section and tucked it up more.
It fits good and isn't rubbing anywhere.

Re-assembled the interior. Have a better steering wheel to go in :) but i had to order the proper adapter and just like evrything else ive ever bought for my car it is apparently coming from the moon on foot

Digging the way it's turned out.
I didn't spend too much time on the small details because I have something better in the works for this eventually, after I get my URQ up and going.

Will be working on building this engine on the side. new engine will be :

01E "wide 1st"
JB racing aluminum flywheel
Clutchnet clutch
Coated main and rod bearings
EFI Express H-Beam rods
Stock AAN Block honed and decked
Head is gone through with new stem seals ad guides
Ferrrea 6000 Intake and exhaust valves

Also have some other goodies for it like INA breather puck, billet cam gear, a few things here and there

I had the same problem as you with the harness. It is almost worth shortening it because of all that extra wire. I put a small power distribution block/fuse block under the dash and have the ECU zip tied up there with all of the wire coiled and tied. Just a major pain in the butt any time you need to pull the ecu down because you have to re-coil that harness haha.

Car is coming together great.

Its really been fun, and makes me a little nervous at the same time. I am trying to be really cautious.
I have it set to a max boost level of 220 Kpa right now and really not even getting into the throttle much, just been spending a few days driving to and from work. of course I can't resist getting on it a few times here and there but based on what im seeing AFR and everything else look good.
I still have to read up on some things like knock detection and timing and make sure I know what indications I have available.

Couple next things for the car:
-still need to install a resistor for the tach
-need new lights in gauge cluster
-need to find a better solution than my laptop for gauges
-looking like I might be due for some v8 tails
-really need to ditch the steering wheel I have in there now
-Continue building the new engine
-figure out hoe to get/make a V-band flange for my indy car turbo

Snapped a couple shots on the way to work .

EFR makes flanges. Mike Hood (who I bought my turbo and flanges from) should be able to hook you up in no time. In the link below you can see the options for flanges in the pull down menus.

Damn white 4ks look so good! Good job with all the troubleshooting, brings back fond memories (not!). I'll see if I can find my old config, it started and idled fantastically in all conditions, in the end, with no ISV or anything.

These turbos are actually different flange sizes . This is a limited time deal, for a while there was a company selling used turbos off of Penske racing IRL Indy cars .
They are a different inlet- 3 bolt inlet (made to accept a restrictor) and a the exhaust side Inlet v band is slightly different than any other off the shelf EFR.

This is the last config I sent ross before he blew the engine up. As you can see in the -20 cell I was using 450%. Just import one table at a time and don't burn it.

Hard to see the difference here but this is one of the typical V-bands Image

Definitely worth contacting him and seeing if he is familiar with these though, because I have the perfect manifold and turbo for this car I'm S.O.L without flanges

Quite jealous of your nice red leather seats. Keep them clean (which I know you will).

Excellent car.

Excellent car.

I just cleaned them :)
I can see the passenger side has been re-upholstered at one point but the seats and door panels are in great shape .
Really looking forward to getting rid of the steering wheel from my URQ and throwing in the Audi Sport wheel.

Thanks, its nice to be able to look and see the targets others are running.
Remind me again which turbo you were running in that car. and octane?
I am running very similar targets just lower boost. A few things I am going to change around I think .

The idle is running real smooth right now, I have it set to idle at 900 and it does great and is not missing or anything. A small dip in idle when I put the clutch in and engine speed comes down to idle. I actually did retain the ISV but will be interested in deleting it. I just didn't want to get rid of it if it was going to make starting/tuning much harder

Idle targets
Image

The fuel I think is good where it's at, but I was looking this morning and thinking about getting rid of the 320, 340, 360 rows and make them lower and more useful to me, maybe add some down low. Same goes for the 8500 RPM column. I have mine set at 7200 and with the current setup I never need to go that high in RPM. Maybe adding more cells in my usable range will help smooth things out? Not sure

Fuel targets

For the boost I'm not going to change much until I get my newer built engine together and put in.

.82 a/r 30r, 94 octane while I owned it, 630cc injectors.

That tune was for race gas. He said it was mental lol. I was targeting about 290kpa on 94.

yeah That would be crazy! The highest I can buy around here is 91 oct. No E85 available either locally.

So the next couple things I need to start looking at,
1) need to find my EGT probe before I feel comfortable really getting into any real boost
2) The Timing, once I get the EGT set up and I can get into some boost I want to start researching the timing . I think whats in this table might be slightly aggressive but not sure
Image

Still only a temporary solution. I need the car to start and run fine in all conditions for now until I can get my built engine and EFR together, but as soon as that's done, its time to pay Marc. I do not want to risk anything with a new engine in there, and at that point I will want to crank up the boost a little.

That's funny because I like your build . At the rate I'm going chances are I will drive the 4000 to Vegas this year .
Once I have the tune good I will try and get a video . Installing the EGT now

Took the exhaust housing off the turbo and started to measure up the V band so see if I can make or get one made.
For a slight second I had the idea of why not just weld this V-band right on here to adapt to the proper size, but I doubt thats really a good idea because it is subject to so much heat it would likely crack, and I would have no housing at all.
Image

Starting to work on the engine.
Have everything back from the shop and balanced now. Everything cleaned up real nice.
Image

A couple small annoyances with the bearings, they are packaged kind of loose so one came out and was rubbing on the other ones causing some little scrapes on the coating.
Image
Image

The second issue is that on the thrust bearing, this "tang" is not in the exact spot it needs to be. so it doesn't want to fit in the cap without being massaged or filed.

What are you doing for the crank pulley? is that a new one?

The crank pulley going to leave as is .
I can't change it out because everything is balanced together.

Since I have the AAN one I am going to change the pulleys on the alternator and power steering over to serpentine belt .
