for some reason i cant get a better pic, ive just got a little consumer digi cam at my disposal. and if i turn the flash off so you can see the gauges better, its gets all types of blurry like that.

yeah thats the problem. if you hold the camera real steady it gets better. rest it against something stationary like the harness bar or roll cage hoop bar....

but the blur is movement without the flash.

dunno nothin bout no exhausts, but 3" isnt easy to work with.

and that looks like a much steadier picture there. nicely done.

you are close, but you need to angle it a bit toward the passenger rear wheel. It kind of sits down in that divet on in the diff mount. There is only really one spot that a 3" can fit up and over the axle, and it is TIGHT. But, hey, if I can do it without any rubbing, than I know you can :-D

soooo i am shooting for something like this?

Image

once i get over that, out the back is cake, lol. now what about hangers just out of curiosity...one in the front for the straight pipe down the tunnel, and one in the rear im assuming, or do you go more balls out with it and put something in the middle?

also, can you make it from the straight pipe, up over the axle and out-ish, in one shot, or you needed to have multiple pipes back there? cause that would a pain in the nuts to get some clamps up in there.

so, i think i got it. gotta add a few vbands here and there, and itll be off to my buddy to weld all up.

interesting tidbit, the piece over the axle is all ONE pipe, its like a bend thats tighter then a 45 but not a 90, it was actually a three inch pipe from a truck exhaust i had upstairs at NAPA, and i was eyeballing it all day, brought it home, and it ended up working out beautifully. and even better, after cutting said pipe up, i got two more 45s and and tight 90 to boot, all for 30 bucks.

i you should just add a cuttout! That exhaust looks real good over the axle. Its such a PITA to fit it in there.

No kidding. The stock exhaust fits bad enough through there as it is. They really needed to clear a better path for the exhaust.

The pipe pictured above is just a section of a single bend with a pipe welded to its straight leg at the upstream end and another straight pipe welded to the cut end of the bend at the downstream end. It may save money to buy the pipe as the Walker part, but the same effect can be had with the regular mandrel bent sections.

This is all predicated on the assumption that the pipe over the axle in the pic above is the same one you ended up using.

well the money thing wasnt really that much of a factor, im sure it is for some...but i had it in there using two 45's, and it cleared the axle no doubt....it just didnt clrea as cleanly and nicely as this pipe ended up clearing is all.

so i finally got around to getting some tubing for the rear strut bar so i could finish up the cage tacking up.

i think it looks kinda cool cause it just disappears into the trunk.

going to take the gauges and dash out and then put some wheels on the car and get it to the welders house so it can get all finished up. then once i get it back its game time. i will hopefully have my crank back from the machine shop (getting the timing gear pinned to the crank snout) and then i can put my bottom end together and put the motor back in the car complete.

got some stuff back from welding, hopefully tomorrow i can throw it all in the car and make sure all the ic pipes are tits, and make all the lines for the oil cooler/radiator and such. after thats all cool i can start on a catch can, cause thats the last thing i need to do as far as fabricating something from scratch. after that, i pull evvvverything outta the car and get the cage final welded and the motor mount bracket to the frame and the mounts for the strut bar. enjoy.

my friend Chris' aluminum welding skills...

so put the engine bay pretty much together today. looking pretty good me thinks. going to hopefully make a catch can this week, and thats all that i still need to make make. maybe ill even get my fuel rail back from being machined and then i can run the fuel lines up in the bay before i pull the motor out, we'll see.

still need to make an upper mount for the rad.
