Anybody see this from running E85?

Post by type85 »

I get a frothy yellow goo, it looks like it eventually settles back down to oil (the goo is pre filter, the top of the separator is the intake).
What you see is from idling the engine and going on short drives, oil may have not reached operating temp.
I also often see a surprising amount of water in the separator, I wonder if E85 produces more water than gasoline
The Mann provent oil separator is working well, I have it under hi vacuum, feeding the intake manifold directly, I'm hoping keeping the crankcase under vacuum will make the rings seal better!

That's common to see in a catch can, it's what you get when a lot of moisture mixes with a little oil vapor. The moisture is normal crankcase vapors.

If any discoloration from E85 it would be dark purple. Just look at your injectors in the runners.
