My 95.5 UrS6 Avant *undecided*

I picked up my short block yesterday (Its Thursday here on the east cost right now). It was finished last week Thursday and I wasnt able to pick it up until yesterday. I wish I knew of this shop when I originally started this instead of this being the 3rd shop that was able to finish the job. Oh well, its finally done and now I have to see where I stand money wise to see what I can afford to buy to continue moving forward. Sorry for the cell pic.

Now this block has all new bearings, piston rings, seals/gaskets, IE forged connecting rods and ARP bolts.

It's been awhile since I updated this here. I mainly keep my project thread updated on our local Audi forum more frequently. So here are some updates taken from there.

Some new parts came in.

These should hold the head together securely.

Before: what an eye score!

After: all cleaned up.

All primered.

If your wondering why I didnt order these parts before I started the project....I have a small budget for this rebuild and want to stay within it but it doesnt seem like I'll be able to. The other reason why I didnt buy alot of parts before hand is that I didnt exactly know how much money I needed for getting the work I had done at the body shop.

I removed the oil pan from my old motor because the spare motor I have rebuilt didnt have spring washers for the oil tube pick up and was going to take them from my old motor but it didnt have the either. Anyways this is what I saw when I removed the oil pan from my old motor. Ewwwww!!!

Sorry for the crappy cell pic. The bottom end is oil slugged. Kinda hard to see in these pics.

Added some red.

Cam cover finished.

Coil cover almost finished. Just needs to be touched up.

I had to notch out the windage tray because the ARP studs are taller then the stock bolts.

If your wondering why I didnt start on cleaning and then paint these parts towards the beginning.....is because I forgot about it since I've been trying to get the body shop and engine shop to get working on and finished what I wanted done. Plus working 50+ hours a week of hard work has made me lazy and tired to do much of anything. Also I've been working on personal issues that has distracted me from working on my project. So all in all with all of this going on I've lost motivation and intrest on this project.

I'm not going to give up on this project but I have a feeling that it's not going to be done by the time the snow flies. Also being low on money isnt helping any.

Time for a new update. While my avant has been gone

she got a GT3071R turbo got installed. Since I haven't kept this updated that well, I'll add the missing info in this post. Last year May I bought a H.O. 034 RS2 EM as seen in this pic.

Shortly after I got my tax return money this year. I bought the 034 Rip Chip.

I recently bought a new oil cooler and hardware to replace the stock oil cooler.

I also bought a oil cooler to replace the stock power steering cooler line. I also bought some new coolant hoses. I still need to buy the other coolant hoses.

Parts I ordered from 034. Oil catch can, relay harness for ignition coils, fuel pressure gauge and adjustable fuel pressure regulator, n75 valve, diverter valve and oil pressure switch.

There are more parts that I need to buy.

These are the parts that I bought last year.

I sent out my DP to get modded to be full 3" and had a v-band added.

New parts (turbo oil and water line kit and 044 fuel pump) and freshly rebuilt WG.

Treadstone Performance TR1035 intercooler core.

Stage 3 Endurance Series South Bend clutch kit.

Nice work on your avant, my favorite color! Really curious how the rip chip works for you with the Gt3071r, keep us informed.

Also a shot in the dark here, but reading through your thread you changed from platinum to black seats, do you still have any of the platinum stuff still laying around?? I'm looking for the rear seat headrests.

Thanks. I'm curious about the rip chip myself. There is a forum member on QW that's running the rip chip. I believe his username is ringbearer so you can search for him there.

From my memory the bumper doesn't need much cutting to get it to fit. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Send chaloux a pm and he might be able to help you out better then I can.

Update time. Shorty after Jim picked up my avant he had to stop working on my avant because I ran out of money for this project so it sat at his place until it was time for him to bring it back home. Got dropped yesterday morning. A lot has happend while my avant has been away. I got married and I bought my very first house which has a nice size detached garage. I sold the RIP Chip and the 928 GTS calpiers and took some stuff off my avant that is currently on my UrS4.

My avant finally came back home (gone for 21 months) and will sit in my garage for awhile until I can afford to buy what I need to buy to finish it. For the time being there is some things I can work on that Jim didnt do because I ran out of money for him to any more work then what he's got into it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Nothing been done since I got it back home. :( Don't have any extra money to spend on her. Just living off pay check to pay check to survive. I did pick up a 97 A6 quattro avant as my new daily driver and I need to pay that off. I need to figure out what to do with my 93 UrS4.

She is still currently sitting. I don't make good money where I work but it has good benefits which is part of the reason why I'm still working there. Sorry I'm not looking to part with either of my avants.

*update* no progress with her. I sold off the GT3071R turbo. the platinum seats it swapped out now resides in my 97 A6 avant. I'm to a point now where I have no clue what to do with this avant anymore. I've thought about throwing in the towel and just part it out. I also thought about selling it as a whole the way it sits hopefully someone picks up where I left off but I know I won't get much for it. I just feel bad having it sitting around.

I dunno, have you seen what Avants are fetching these days? It sucks, but sometimes it's best to sacrifice one project for the sake of another :bangshead:
