I know I havent been as active as I used to be. The shop has gone from busy to insanity. My mechanic says he has never seen it this busy before so I am seriously behind on both repairs and parts right now. I am getting them out to everyone as fast as possible right now.
12 hour days are not enough anymore. If we continue to stay this busy, I will be looking for a 3rd guy to help out in the shop. We are so busy I have been contemplating putting off school this Semester.
I'm at the point where I could refuse any new work for the next 2 weeks and still be busy full time for 2-3 weeks. We had to add a 3rd row of parking on the neighboring lot because we ran out of room.
Apparently raising the shop rate only made us busier somehow........

I would start telling your customers, that you cannot get to theirs cars right away. I would try to get to the cars in the order that they came in. I would not have them drop off the car until you are able to work on it, unless a quick fix.
People get annoyed when their cars sits for a long time, especially if it has to sit outside. I know I appreciate it when someone tells me they can't get to my car right away. We usually set up an approximate date when they can start.
For instance, PMB performance in Utah, told me they could not get to my car for a month and half or two months, while they finished another car. They will call me when ready and I will deliver the car.
Having your car sit at a shop for a long time, while nothing seems to be getting done, has been the bane of others.
I know for me, I hate it. Just some thoughts.

Years ago I worked at a German repair shop and have kept in touch with the guy who owns it. He told me once every time he raised his hourly rate he got more customers. Welcome to the twilight zone...

Just a heads up, but I am hiring help in the coming weeks. I wont name who, but a fellow Audifan may be joining the crew which means normal business operations and turn around times will be going back to normal
