I haven't really been taking many pictures. Been pushing hard to get this thing to Carlisle. Its a bit ugly, rusty and primery but mechanically she is going well. Been daily driving it all week, and tweaking things/fixing all the little issues that come up with a build like this.

Random pics from the last month of busting ass.

Wiring hell!
Image

hybriding a diesel euro cluster with my original. Correct working tach, glow plug light integrated, auto check and mph speedometer. I also swapped over the diesel fuel gauge. No more "unleaded fuel only"
Image

clutch setup #2, a failure. DMF for gasser cannot handle torque at 2500 rpm.
Image

Image

1552 wheel fitment test.
Image

clutch/fw #1 coming out
Image

added a resonator last night. That made the car 100% better. This thing was way too drony and booming. The bigger turbo really lets a lot more 4 banger noise through, and it wasn't good.
Image

This resonator is amazing. I cannot believe how much it quieted it down inside and out the car. The exhaust is a straight pipe otherwise. It totally makes the car, and it is extremely compact. Highly recommended. Not that a 4 banger ever really sounds good, but it improved this car 10 fold.

Very nice work Dana! I too am excited to see this at Carlisle! Mine is all but ready, finishing up today, so will be interesting to see the differences between them. Oh, I don't mean the uglyness factor either... I think I have you beat there. :P

made it to Carlisle and back with some minor abuse along the way, and drove it to work today. Success.

Now to bring it back into the shop and start on this list:

-replace clutch and flywheel with 240mm DMF setup
-fix odo gear and/or replace the stepper motor
-replace cam and lifers with a performance cam and new oem lifters
-heavy duty valve springs
-fix random rust spots on lower front fenders.
-replace door trim
-steam clean manky seats and carpet
-get wheels straightened :bangshead:
-get car re-aligned. Thanks VT road crews...

Thanks Marc! Hopefully you can grab a ride sometime. I think its the most fun sub-200hp audi I have been in.

Also, the first MPG report is in....This is from the trip back from carlisle which included many WOT runs, crusing between 75-100 the whole time, and trying to keep up with Matt's RS4 and Shawn's big turbo 1.8t. I was expecting 40 at best...but we have 47.3. I dare say its got 50mpg in it with a light foot, the belly pan re-insatalled and some more legal highway speeds.

I didn't even pay attention to mileage after I hit 25.7 on the way down, that was good enough for me, but I wonder what that black Explorer hanging out with us was getting

LOL. I love the TDI, my co-worker has a chipped V8tt S6, and it's fast as shit, but I hate how I have to push the gas all the way down to make it go, haha

Too bad it still can't pull on a lowly 1.8t ;)

A 1.8t with an hx35, no. But a 1.8t with any normal turbo may find a surprise. My friend has a k04, I'm excited to line it up with that car.

I'll beat you in any race less than 100' or more than 600 miles.

Awesome to meet and cruise with you guys! That TDI was one of my, if not my absolute, favorite cars at Carlisle. Also for the MPG check-in, I averaged 21 even after all the shenanigans. I couldnt believe how evenly matched our three cars are, Shawn's car is absolutely killer once that boost hits!

Hey guys! I still wish I cruised up north with you all....
Id like to see highway pulls with you guys and the old V8q :)
The trip computer says I got 22.4mpg. Its usually 24 on the highway.
Again, nice meeting you all and I'll definitely be back next year.
