94.4 Emerald Green / Ecru URS4 2.2T 400hp stage 1

End of September 2015 I started looking for a nice base for my project. At the time there were 3 cars up for sale in the entire country (I'm in Hungary) 2 of them were avants so I had 1 choice and I went with it. I got my 1994 100 S4 2.2T.

Outside looks great the only flaw it has on the exterior was the black trim not being perfect and the taillights.

Mechanically there were a boat load of problems but the car idled fine. And it worked for getting from A to B reliably.

The exhaust manifold had at least 6 cracks.
The wastegate was tampered with and the diaphragm was dead
The turbo was shooting oil all over the place
it had an after market alarm
it had an automatic gearbox

So I thought a lot about what I want to do with the car so then I finally came up with my "stage 1" idea:

Have the car make the maximum amount of power it can without changing the engine internals. After talking with a bunch of people and reading through forums I set the target to 330 AWHP which is appx 400 hp at crank. All the changes necessary to get there were:

Get a bigger turbo
Get a custom exhaust manifold
Get a custom exhaust system
Get a chip

Now as I established how much power I want to make I came to realize that I will fry my gearbox in no time so another element to my project:
Get a manual gearbox

So there I was with the car freshly bought making about 90 hp with all of its problems, so now starts the restoration / custom build phase
