thats a fairly substantial difference, isn't it? when a company can give you a spec for maximum shaft rpm and proper compressor maps it says something about the turbo and the company behind it. I think the ones that have failed on hank he has the data to show he was over the engineered max rpm by a fair margin. My 8374 that was supposed to go on my quattro got failure tested in this way. Not crying though, a 9174 aluminum chra unit is the replacement
It is indeed. When you're an OEM, that's a lot easier to do. Still, I wouldnt engineer a turbo without making those specs available. OEM or not.
That 9174 should make for one helluva ride in an urq! I just need Borg to make a re-aero'd 72 and I'll have my turbo. Thats what I've decided. EFR or not, but preferably EFR.
