Here I thought my at-work setup was pretty nice (15.4" wide for documents plus 19" standard for drawings TFT panels)...

Yeah I won't be able to make it monday, as I have school that night.

Nice LCD!!
I take much pride knowing that I motivated you to finalllly buy one. It's really about time you join the band wagon, though.... even if everyone had one before you at least you have one now :P

Big thanks to Rob for throwing my flywheel on the lathe and checking out the runout for me. Turns out it really doesn't need to be turned, only about a thousandth out at worse so I'm going to leave it alone (nice zombie look Rob!) ;)

I need to call the dyno shop on Monday to confirm that 6:30 slot still, stay tuned..

alright, now we're getting somewhere.

Seeing about 20psi peak on the dyno. This was the best run of the day which wasn't the last (more on that in a moment). 411hp/431 tq

Image

this is up from my baseline numbers substantially so its hard to whine too much :)

Image

Trouble seemed to be that *something* was causing a major dip (typically a 50hp drop) in power between 4 and 5k rpm and it was sporradic. I could definitely feel it as well during the run, power was definitely down then back up at the tail of the run. Sometimes I'd get a smooth run like this, and others I'd get the dip with no changes made. From the feel and randomness of it I'm suspecting coil issues. I tried ramping up the dwell but the coils weren't having it, totally muffed up the run when I tried to cycle them up to around 6ms peak dwell (standard AEB style coils).

I still need to pull the plugs to see if that yields any data as well. I've got lots of pictures and such from the dyno thanks to Haydn and Rob that I'll post up tomorrow.

The other thing that I'm concluding is that the turbos on my car are really too big for the 3.6. As you can see from the boost curve peak boost comes on fairly late. Some of this might be a function of the coils but from my math using the turbo calculator the numbers are similar to what I would expect. Power really drops off after 6krpm (which is where I decided to stop the runs) which isn't helping the late spooling turbos. I cant say for certain if the power drop off is partly to blame on the coils or whatever is causing my power dip but I've got some investigatin' to do.

Without the dip, 4k to 5.5k looks to be pretty strong. I agree the spool up is a lot later than I had expected but nothing to loose sleep over. Nice job

looks good Marc.
Hey as for the turbo response, log a run on the road and compare.
My car (with it's tiny K24) wasn't showing full boost until over 3500 on the dyno plot. But on the road I see full boost much lower.

Nice, very nice! I want that torque curve.

What ramp rate were you using? That can affect the boost curve.
