I picked up the car in the spring of 2011 and swapped in an AAN that I had been building. Over the course of a year I worked on massaging out the kinks while running on an MTM stage 1+ AAN ECU and stock turbo until the timing belt slipped due to an under-torqued crank bolt. I then pulled the head off and had it rebuilt with new and upgraded components, and got it running on VEMS and a holset turbo.
I ran this setup for <100 miles while working on the tune until my girlfriend and I moved out to pittsburgh where I lost my time, space, and motivation to build it into the wheel spinning, fire breathing beast that it was meant to become. So, over the last few months I have worked on getting it running on a Volvo k24 (RS2) and AAN motronic ECU with a EFI Express tune. It's almost done, all it needs is the crankcase breather system finished!
Here are the juicy details
Engine:
-AAN with ~9k on the rebuilt and balanced bottom end
-Rebuilt cylinder head has ~1k miles
-RHD ABY S2 engine harness
-AAN ECU with EFI Express tune with launch control for Volvo k24 and 60lb injectors
-60lb injectors
-Scat rods
-ARP hardware
-Coated bearings
-New intake valves
-Stainless Steel exhaust valves
-Supertech springs and retainers
-Lightweight lifters
-7A cams
-New CPS
-Apikol ignition coil conversion with updated coilpacks
-STR 'RS2' turbo manifold
-AAN Wasetgate
-Volvo K24 (similar to RS2) turbo with no shaft play
-Iroz 3" SS downpipe
-ABY airbox modified with velocity stack
-Iroz modified AAN intake manifold
-Big ebay intercooler with 2.5" inlets
-Custom 2.5" intercooler piping powdercoated to match valve cover
-URS6 snub mount bracket with Apikol mount (provides better IC clearance)
-New radiator
-034 vortex catch can
-AAN serp. belt setup with A/C deleted. This uses a 1300mm belt.
-New engine mounts
-3" turbo-back exhaust with magnaflow high flow cat.
-Partially rebuilt P/S pump
Drivetrain
-Lightened 7A flywheel
-Spec stg3+ clutch
-01E 5spd from a 95 S6 with custom mounts
-4:1 center diff
-Refurbished 4k driveshaft
-034 track 'density' trans and rear diff mounts
Suspension/Wheels:
-2b coilover setup with newer used front Koni Struts
-Shortened steering arms for quicker response/more steering angle
-Summit racing front springs... can't remember if 400lb or 450lb.
-034 track density strut mounts
-Sandblasted, seam welded, and POR15'd subframes
-Rear swaybar brackets added
-034 Alum. subframe bushings
-New OEM subframe bolts
-New OEM control arm bushings
-New OEM ball joints
-New OEM rear tie rods
-New OEM front tie rods
-17x10 et25 10th Anniversary Mustang replica wheels (4x108)
-245/40/17 Bridgestone Potenza RE01Rs
Exterior:
-S2 front bumper with fresh paint
-RS2 headlights with blacked out housings and yellow lamin-x over the highbeams
-4500k HID lowbeams
-S2 Front corner lights and fog lights with blacked out housings (these are off Ebay from Latvia but I've retrofitted OEM projectors into the fog light housings).
-S2 Rear bumper in pearl white
-B4 hood and locking pieces
-URS6 headlight washer retrofit (more discrete than the S2 ones).
-B5 paper cabin filter retrofit. (some mice chewed their way past this over the winter
)-Euro rear license plate surround
Interior:
-Very clean black interior. No rips or buckled seams!
-Cabriolet cluster with autocheck and retrofitted LED bulbs -shows 98k
-Podi boost and AFR gauges
-Early B5 sport steering wheel (same as late URS6)
-Stock seats with no rips or worn areas
-MK1 short shifter mod
-JHM shifter extender
-B5 sport shift knob
-DIY real carbon fiber trim
-Uninstalled Black headliner bits -other than sunvisors...
Issues:
-Interior needs some assembly. I pulled the headliner to recover it in black suede and the A,B and C pillar covers are still off - I intended on recovering or plastidipping these.
-It needs a VDO cluster. It currently had a UN4 cluster which does not exactly work right - RPM and temp are off.
-The crankcase breather is currently vented to atmosphere which produces noticeable fumes when driving. This would be solved with a better catch can and venting it into the intake.
-The clutch master sometimes looses pressure over time requiring you pull the pedal up with your foot. Otherwise, it works fine.
-Fog lights do not currently work
-Dome light wiring was removed. I intended on rewiring this but did not get around to it.
-I traded design services for a 'friend' to redo my door panels. He got the better end of the deal (see photos below).
