another S2 conversion
Re: another S2 conversion
Still dealing with the vacuum booster leak (new is coming) but till i did a vacuum pump test setup.
Re: another S2 conversion
Huston, we have good vacuum booster, brakes are super!
I have an extra good working vacuum booster (b3) if anybody need it, pm
I fixed almost everything small, bugging things, car is ready for test-track driving next week or so
Since its Sunday, gave him a nice bath:

Car is looking very clean... and I love how those A8 wheels look. Think I'll swap the set from my UrS to my coupe next summer instead of getting new rubber for my RS6 reps.

Re: another S2 conversion
Wow, that looks great!
Re: another S2 conversion
After a longer break (moving, work, parting out 2 cars, overhauling two engines) finally I have time to continue to work on my cq.

Getting daily inspiration from David (hybrid_hatch) I have to address few things before the upcoming BBQ on October 16th.
I had an extra pair of urs4/6 black seats, so i modified the bottom rail a bit to fit into the coupe (thank you Brent S. for the help)

I will do a DIY pdf because the requests ive received.
Got vems, but I got some error because the flywheel pin (consulted with Marc, thank you).
So my vems went thought a surgery and got converted to work with the rear crankshaft seal/sensor.

Also sourced a good looking RS2 exhaust manifold

Next step was to get a volvo turbo (Thank you Dave) and the accessories

The volvo turbo spools quicker with the modified k24 exhaust housing then with the k26/6 housing which is bolts on.
Hank -who could do the modification- is super overloaded, so thats out of question.
I could get a already modified k24 hosing from a forum member (thank you Eric and DE80q)
Now, I have to take both housing to the machine shop (Costa Mesa R&D) and hope that he can do the modification; he is already lightened my 7A flywheel.

Right now, I have to pull my transmission or the engine/transmission combo. Since I do not have lift, only floor jacks, and got no extra help, i think i will pull both. I can install the crank-seal, drill a hole for the sensor wire, install the flywheel.
Also it will give me more room to do the exhaust manifold and turbo charger (i have 034 3" downpipe, not exactly quality work) so i have to play with the bolts.
While im there i will install a new 19 rows oil cooler and a new catch can (saikou S3-OCC) and re-routing my breather system.

I also want to install helper springs and thrust bearings, because i don't like the clicking sound...
Thats my plan till the next BBQ

You'll be up and running in no time!
Re: another S2 conversion
I've looked at those cans before, seem like a good product.

I think so too. I wanted a simple but good, and affordable solution. Talked a lot with JP Jnl about it, and with this, later i can upgrade it to the next level.
I removed almost everything around the engine, my local friend Nelson brought back my engine hoist so to tomorrow i will pull it out.
I've put a set of pretty beaten up set of 16" fuchs with almost new tires on, till i get my 17x8" s6 avus with 35 offset, hmmm

Re: another S2 conversion
Saikou makes nice stuff, lots of 944 guys use their catchcan. I'll have to order one in the future.

Looks like my flywheel and turbo housing will be done, so I can continue working on it. I hope it will be running by the end if this week.

Re: another S2 conversion
Now that's a crank trigger. Nice work.
Re: another S2 conversion
Thank you Jim!
Got the flywheel back, it lost 8 lbs.
Not the biggest diet ive ever seen, but healthy enough for my setup
Re-surfaced, balanced.

This looks really cool, nice work!
So is it a UK car exported? Or just the rear license plate came with rear bumper?

Re: another S2 conversion
I like the bracket for the crank sensor bracket.
You might want to change the plastic zip tie out to stainless ones.

Cool, well you managed to get a 1991 'J' reg plate so it matches the year of build perfect! :-)
That's looking very spangily! How did you clean up the transmission? What product do you like to use?

I cleaned it with soft scrub + 3m scotch brite; rinsed it, then let dry.
I used VHT cast aluminum caliper paint, nice coverage and super fast dry time, not too sensitive for oil residue
