I'm sorry Justin, this is nothing against you at all, but the owner of XLR8, Josh Lockwood, is not the kind of person I would recommend doing business with. I'd encourage anybody in the CT area to bring your car somewhere else. That is my opinion.

In my opinion, yes a major one. When I first paid him and picked up my Audi he was nice and easy to work with. Now that I had a premature clutch failure he turned into a real butthole and will not own up to his mistake. He put a Clutchmaster kit in my car instead of the SPEC kit I ordered and instructed him to install. He says, "don't worry, you'll be happier with the Clutchmaster".

The Clutchmaster failed after 1700 miles and he is now lying thru his teeth saying he never made the switch, thats just the clutch kit 034 sent him. Jeremy at 034 told me he only sent him a CM instead of a SPEC because Josh called and said thats what I wanted..which is an outright lie.

Josh then made everything as difficult as possible for me. Putting blame everywhere but on himself. In the end I had to pay him full price all over again. After I wrote a bad review on Yelp about his business he offered to give me a discount on my next service there. What a joke.

I'm pretty sure we installed the clutch kit you had 034 send us and your car still had the writing on it from the drag strip when it came back with a failed clutch. We have pictures of the numbers on it.

I drove the car before it left and the issue you brought it to us for was gone. I'm sorry but all bets are off when you race. You could have slipped the clutch all the way down the strip for all we know. We didn't manufacture the clutch nor did we abuse the car.

Nope. Instead of installing the SPEC clutch I ordered and thought I'd be getting, your shop installed a Clutchmaster. My mistake was not making you redo the job with the correct clutch right then and there.

You and Josh keep dwelling on the fact that I drag raced the car, like it absolutely exonerates you of any wrongdoing.

Josh knows he messed up. He screwed 034 out of a clutch, and me out of $1600 worth of labor for having to redo the job with the correct SPEC clutch. He will never admit to making that switch, because he is not a man. Some people are never wrong and no matter what happens, cannot admit to a mistake.

Next time to prevent another situation like this, just install the part the customer asks for.

You're making it sound like the incorrect clutch was installed. I'm pretty sure the clutch master was fine for about 2000 miles until you drag raced the car. We have no way of knowing how the car is driven after it leaves our shop, just that everything operates properly when it leaves... Which your car did.

But I suppose you are correct, we shouldn't recommend parts based off of our experience installing hundreds of clutches where we have seen multiple specs fail compared to clutch master. We actually install mostly south bend.
