Totally different. GTM in germany sells the upper rad. hose in silicone.

Re: 220vt from Finland
Things have moved on a bit again.
Still need to fix some issues in instrument cluster and assemble the front, but the engine bay is done at least for a while.
Got the new full aluminum radiator from ebay:
China made, but seems ok and bolted on just fine.
Had to plug the aux.rad. fittings thought since don't have it.
Repaired the washer fluid reservoir cracks and bought new pump, changed the a/c compressor since the one on the car was busted from day 1 and got a new fuel filter too.
Also painted some bits in engine bay, huge mistake.
Painting failed miserably, but I'll have to keep the hood closed from now on.
Decided not to change the radiator hoses yet after all, 'cause cheapscate.
This will bite me back at some point I'm sure, but we'll see.
There's a big classic car show coming at the start of May and I'm hoping to get there in this.
At the show there's Audi Club Finlands stand also and at least one ur-quattro (I guess) like every year before, thought they have been different every time.
Last year there were one 200 exlusive (The Bond car) also. It had red leather interior from factory.
I still need new summer tires for this thought..
Can't wait to get back on the road and ditch the 80 tdi.

Nice work, hopefully the radiator lasts. Sometimes the Chinese ones are just fine. Hope to see pictures of your car at the car show.

Re: 220vt from Finland
Thanks.
This one isn't going to be at the show, I just hope to get there with this.
My 200 is way out of league for that show..
I'll try to get pics to here too if I can make it.
On a side note, I also got a tab mounted in the car with brodit holder as well as finished tampering with the instrument cluster.. 10 inch tab is a bit overkill.
Got this as vems display but the plans to get the pnp vems seem to go further and further...
That granpa steering wheel gotta go also at some point. Need to find something more fresh with an airbag.

Re: 220vt from Finland
It's not out of the league in my mind
I love the tablet for vems display! I'm interested to see what you come up with for a nicer airbag steering wheel. The only thing I can think of is the S4 or S6 wheels, but I don't think they look very good in the t44. Still a lot better than the grandpa wheel Haha. I always call it that too. Then again, the whole car is sort of grandpa-ish.

Re: 220vt from Finland
Wonder if it's a good thing you didn't get silicon coolant hoses, as I've read a lot of negatives online about them failing early and often.
Or maybe it's just that_one_particular brand?

Yep, I found a few some negative comments about silicone hoses also.
I got this one fully assembled again yesterday, and it seems I now have a leak free typ44...

Re: 220vt from Finland
Some update to here as well..
Got the car on the road with new tires (linglongs..)
The BBS rims were sold so I'll stick with the old rims for atleast a while now..
Everything seems to work OK after approx 250km and the car is still leak free.
Also got this:
A fellow audiclubfinland member sold it for pack of cigarettes.

Still looking for a cheap B5 3 spoke airbag sport steering wheel and the car will get some updates to drivetrain as there is quite loud "quattro thump" while going on and off gas.
Parts are here, just need the time..

Hmm, I'll be interested to see if you get that climate control unit working and also how the steering wheel turn out!

Re: 220vt from Finland
Time for an update..
Been driving this thing for a while now after I got the bushes done in the rear, new tires and a 4-wheel alignment done by local vw dealer.
Pic from today as proof.
After I (and a friend who did the most work..
) did the bushings for the rear xmember and all the bushes holding the rear diff, the bang that previously could be heard and felt going on and off gas was gone.
One pic also from the bushing work, the apikol rear diff mount is pretty sweet.
No need to say this, but it wasn't leak free for long..
Some coolant droping from somewhere, not much thought.
Need to adress this at some point.. Also the windshield gets foggy after I turn the heat on so new heater element is needed. Great.
When I change the heater element, do I need to remove the whole dashboard?
Next week we have audiclub gathering with theme "special audis from early nineteens"

Re: 220vt from Finland
Lucky and unlucky for you the heater core is done in the bay in the t44. Its still a huge pain in the ass no matter how you look at it.
I visited finland in 05 by the way for the WRC Neste Rally. It was a once in a lifetime trip that turned out epic. I like your country, beautiful and green in the summer. Wish I could do it again soon!

What bushings did you use for the inner part of the rear control arm?

Re: 220vt from Finland
Long time no updates..
But heres one, I got bad news and bad news.
The daily tdi 80 is dead. It would need new diesel pump or major repair to old one, leaking from the main axle at the back.
The 200 is also at no go. Drove it for maybe 4000 km or more in total and then problems started.
First time it died on supermarket parking lot. Got it home, red the fault codes and tadaa, hall sensor it is.
Next, remove the distributor.
Got scared when the distributor axle ( or what would you call it.. ) came off whitout the distributor gear.
The pin was gone and all I found was this:
Gotta hope the rest of it is in the oilpan..
After I got the gear back in its place and everything ready to go, I bumped just a bit to the aftercooling waterpump and:
Yesterday, a week later, I got a new pump and the car back on road. For a while at least.
Drove about 20km, and everything worked fine.
Then I tried to leave to work this morning and it wouldn't start.
Gave the hall fault code again, but it vent off after erasing and didin't come back.
Still no start and a new code from TPS, G69, can this cause no start?
This is getting frustrating.. I still need to go to dyno before winter and there are a few track days too where one could make a fool of himself.

Suprise, suprise.. It's the hall sender. Got the code again from vag-com.

Re: 220vt from Finland
On the road again.
Replaced the sender and bang, it started right away.
Also bought new after run pump which is a bit shorter than oem part, but fits nice and does the job. Replacement was also quite much cheaper, an Opel or Saab part I believe..
Bosch part no: 0392020034
I haven't driven with this one a lot hence I needed a new daily after the 80 died, just maybe mere 500km in 5 weeks.
My new (haldex) quattro A3 has had all the attention in the mean time.
We had a club trackday few weeks ago and I got to sit a few laps in typ85 quattro with HX52Pro and in twincharged UrS4.
All I got to say about that is I need more.
The original plan was to dyno this before touching the engine powerwise, and after the trackday I feel I need a bit more.. So now the plan is to get to dyno next week.
There's another trackday coming shortly and I hope to get atleast one or two slow laps with 200, but we're throwing a friends bachelor party a day before trackday so we'll see how that goes..

Glad you're back on the road.
Wow, do you have any more info on both of the audis you rode in? They sound very interesting. That's definitely something that should get you going

Correct.
UrS4 was Thuppus, he lives about 30km from me and the typ85 was another audi enthusiast from the area.
I believe theres no build thread for the typ85 which is a shame cause it was a beast, but Thuppu has quite nice build thread as in link above..
The torque on UrS was unreal..

Re: 220vt from Finland
Pretty quiet here, been driving now and then without problems after the hall sender incident.
Went at the track too, but only on "slow session"
The car passed MOT test yesterday and today it will go to hibernation until next spring.
I'm kinda out of motivation with this thing, the cyl 1 has a lot of blow by on boost and I should do complete engine over haul if I wanna play with this in next summer.
Good thing is I already have one 2.5tdi block in "reserve" if/when I find motivation..
