And why not add timing?! I've just sorted out a serious detonation issue I figure by preventing 3 of 5 cylinders from heat soaking! What do you guys think? Got my MAC valve today but still no 034 BPV seals

Do you guys have 91 or 93 over there?
I think you might be putting a bit too much trust in your meth.
with one single nozzle it's hard to get an even spray across all cylinders. If you throw more timing at it and it's getting a ton of meth to #5 but small amounts to #1 then you might have detonation problems.

Just a heads up. You'll have to cut your bumper up pretty badly(ask me how I know) to get one of those style of FMIC's to fit. You really need a side mount style, something like this http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/pr ... ler++500HP To really make a new intercooler work on these cars. it'd go in the place of your stock one.
Also, they don't get nearly enough airflow when cutting up the bumper(also ask how I know)

Yeah go for a same side in and out vertical core treadstone. It's going to be the best band for your buck. You can fit a really big one with minimal hacking, so one of the smaller ones should be a cinch.

Cool. I do really like that treadstone you linked Phil. Maybe I'll order it this weekend
but I'm still confused how an IC of similar size but different end tanks and manufacturer could support so much more power. The Core Runners are larger? Better/more pure aluminum or something? Less pressure drop overall and no tight turns is probably the most important

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Cool I'll be sure to get that particular one then in the future.
I'm confused on this MAC valve. It's not my first time installing one for the audi. It was a separate controller on the 5k with the same valve. With it on the 200, I'm only getting 20 psi. Less than the stock system! I guess I need a restrictor for the lower port? I have the DC at 85 and hz was at 11 and 16 at one point. About to try at 25 hz right now. Can't brain. Over

Find out what frequency the valve is supposed to operate at. That's much better than trying to experiment with it. You might have the duty cycle backwards? (aka what you think is closed is really open, etc.)

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Oh right I hadn't thought about if the inverted signal would still apply to the new valve. I'll change that for the next run. I did some research early on and it appears that the higher the hz the better for speed of actuation vs DC being requested like its able to change the requested DC quicker per second (quicker PID function possibly). I've seen that valve advertised as between 10 and 40 hz but that 20 is recommended. That part I don't understand. Why not use as close to its max ability of hz as possible? Whatever I'll stay half range I guess. Mechanical limits are usually not the best area to fly lol. Thanks
EDIT: inverting the signal was definitely wrong

I'm having one HELLUVA time with getting this boost under control lol. I started noticing that after increasing the DC above 30% resulted in 20+ kpa LESS and by a later rpm. It's so odd. I'm going to try running the signal lines from separate sources and then clamping the lower WG port as a test. The suggested routing suggests T'ing from the turbo ref port that leads directly to the lower port and placing the MAC valve between theT and the top WG port. I will start by trying to run the top port from the BPV signal line so it's signal is from map. Idk atm, brb

Re: Julian's '91 200 20vt
Something I failed to realize about mac valves is that they can "lose control" of their action as explained at the bottom of this page which is the seller I got the valve from also http://circuitse7en.net/page26.php
I need to tweak my setting for max DC range as well as reduce my hz to 10 since the effective range for it is 7 to 90%. More important here is my PID settings were effectively making the valve useless by going 100% (at least the site says so, causing a loss of control). Figured anyone considering the mac valve would find this really interesting

Rapid fire updates! 034 NEVER even sent the seals lol
Called and they said to email LOL. This sucks
On a side note, really hoping the extra travel of the stock IC has something to do with my difficulty with controlling the boost (restrictive? ) but I did come across this illustration which I'd never seen before but believe it somewhat makes sense. the port numberin isn't representative nor did I make this picture. Does it seem logical for serup?

I was just discussing this with someone... so if I'm injecting about 8 inches behind the IC exit on the 3b's extensive intake tract, am I still not getting complete mixture in the air?
