If I had more to do than just the dash panel I'd consider it, but for now it was easier to just buy a sheet of it on ebay.

There was a grassroots motorsports article not to long ago on rolling your own CF... I may revist that later for other interior stuffs.

I meant buy a sheet and finish it from there... we can't wait an extra 8 hours while you figure out how to lay up & bake your own CF pieces in the old frigidaire range :P

prepreg CF, lay on cookie sheet, put something else on top to keep it flat and heat for a bit

quick update from today.

Got the exhaust back from teh welding dude, all I had left to do on it was to install the v-band junction between the rear and over the axle pipes. Sorry for the crappy pics, camera was running out of battery so I didn't use teh flash..

ran new harness for EGT probes

and I installed an electronic 10 bar VDO fuel pressure sender (will integrate with the AIM dash)

Tomorrow's goal is to get all the engine systems wired up (I need to run the radiator fan trigger to a GPO, and run the CAN lines to the aim dash, plus a few other misc. small things.. after that.. its car on the ground time baby! :woowoo:

I ran that by him, guess he did it in his wagon and never had a problem.

roight!

I guess that will be like my egt warning light 8-)

hasn't melted yet on teh wagon in roughly the same spot.

I'm sure if that was mounted in the EM it probably would melt.

update:

had the car running for a bit today.. something odd has happened with the wiring that I need to investigate further.

When I turned the key to ignition on I immediately blew both 25amp coil fueses. Thought that was odd so I double checked there wasn't any kind of short to ground (there wasn't) and started checking out a few things on the ecu. In particular, I noticed that I wasn't getting a flicker from the ecu when turning ignition on.

I then unplugged the gray harness (sensors) and got the flash (as well as the gpo for my fuel pump turning on..). So then I started unplugging sensors one at a time and discovered that by unplugging the TPS I was able to get the ecu to turn on and the car to start :wtf:

So next time I'm at the shop I will have to trace those three tps wires and see wazzup..

I did have time to check clutch operation, good news there, the car goes in and out of gear no problem so good work on the pilot adapter Nate 8-)

I ran a pair of new wires for the CAN connections between the AIM dash and the 034 ecu, but still need to wire up the radiator trigger and ignition switched power for the power steering pump.

In not so happy news, it appears I have a sizeable rear main seal leak :curses: :curses: :curses:

Yah marc, no ones sorrier than me..well sept you. But
that motor was sitting in Toms garage for at least a year. $8.00 part! Would have been the 1st money I would have spent. Those seals are notorious for leaks.
You need the seal?? I got one.
Let me know I'll send it out to you.

Ahh whaddyagonna do? Thanks for the offer, the reason I balked on replacing it was that I had one on the way but it arrived after I had the motor installed on the tranny and I never bothered pulling it to install the seal.

Oh well.

No problemo, Just LMK when you want to do it.

You should do it at Derek and Myk's though if you can get it on a lift it will be much easier to drop the gearbox.....or do you need to pull the whole shebang given all your other stuff in there?

FWIW, I think it would be much easier in this situation to pull the trans rather than the engine, but since Marc put it together he probably knows how he's going to do it already.

Well, the goal is to have everything out of the garage by x-mas.

yes, replacing the rear main on the lift would be ideal, but the garage is really packed and the lift is in use most of the time so I think it makes more sense to just worry about it when I get it home where I'll be able to work on it at my own pace (I have to drive an hour to get to the shop).
