V8 is torsen, 5k is open/lockable
V8 is 4.11:1, 5kq is 4.11:1, 5ktq is 3.89:1

I'm sure there is more, but those are two differences off the top of my head

Awesome! So how about a v8 rear diff and a stock 4000 trans O1A I think they are. I know the gear set is the same but can the torsion rear diff work with the locker front?

the 4000 comes with an 016 transmission. You can run a locker front and torsen rear. I'd much rather run a torsen center and torsen rear.
To do that you'd need a transmission from a 200 20vt which is a 4.11 ratio 016 with a torsen center differential. Torsen center, torsen rear. And better highway gear ratios in the 200 20v transmission than the 4000.

Yeah.

Pretty sure I've seen many more broken V8 diffs than anything else.

Moderate power delivery through and out of a turn is better with a torsen rear. High power launches break torsens. It depends on intended use.

Lift a wheel during a turn with lotsa power and sticky tires and bye bye diff. They dont like power or shock.

What they said above. Put a V8q diff in something that can spin the tires and they explode. I wanted one for my 200 20v until I saw what Sam Stone did to his.
