Harness Loom Tape?

Post by dana »

Working on my TDI harness. Making a stand along harness out of the original mk3 diesel harness. I am not cutting any connectors off, so I have unwrapped and untangled the harness.

Can I buy harness wrap tape that is similar to the OEM stuff to re-wrap it and make it looks like a factory harness again?

I don't like that split loom stuff, and the tech-flex sleave stuff isnt an option since I am not cutting off or re-pinning any connectors.
current:
-mk4 tdi wagon with some mods
-TDI b3 90q, holset turbo, be strong little connecting rods!
-the turbo tractor
past:
-11 second 90q junker
-20vt swapped 90q winter beater
-efi 20vt 4kq
-way too many other long gone urs's, 200's 4000's, b5's

3m friction. Tape is close, but it is sticky on both sides. You can get it at most hardware stores. I have been using it for years.

"tesa harness tape".

I have a few rolls, $10 shipped.

depends on how many branches. you've got 25 meters per roll. the 25mm 'slick' is what I'd recommend if its living in an engine bay. the 15mm 'fuzzy' variety is good for interior stuff, duplicates the audi interior fuzzy stuff on b5+ harnesses.

Anyone used silicone tape for this? Somewhat heat resistant and definitely stretchy

Scotch 70 is good to 180C. Love that stuff, we use it all the time at work (airplanes). Shit is expensive though! ~$45 for a 1"x30' roll
