k26 compressor housing bolts

Post by DE80q »

Does anyone know what size spline drive I need for the 4 bolts holding the compressor housing backing plate to the center section? I need to order one, and don't want to order the wrong one.

Thanks

Are you talking about what size torx bit to use?

Is that what its supposed to be? None of the torx bits I have seem to fit it. The one that is close is pretty sloppy in the wide slots.

The bolt heads appear to say RIBE which would indicate that they are ribe drive bolts. So you need a set of ribe drive sockets.

Yeah I don't know the exact name, I'll check tmw at work. Napa auto parts had the whole set for like $40 bucks. They are extremely tight, I had to use a torch to get them off.

I think the brand is called Carlyle . You can kind of see the box. I can tell you the exact size I used, when I get to work tmw.

That would be great thanks. Maybe I'll stop in at my local Napa tomorrow and see if they have them as well.

Thanks guys. I'll order one from the tool truck when it stops in. Napa didn't have that kit.

They are called Torx Plus sockets. The size you need to order is TP30. Here are some pics. Sorry for the links, the pics are huge.

Your PB picture shows a regular torx. While Austin is correct (as usual lol) in that RIBE are different then Torx Plus, if you have ever seen them side by side there is not a whole lot of difference. Ive been using torx plus on both types for years now with not one strip. :idunno:
