480hp treadstone ic for a 1.8t is made to fit in the front of an A4..Mine will be made to fit my CQ. I also had them send a 180 degree 2.5 dia. bend to help me do this.

Moving to the bumper. getting closer. Close enough to see that I can and will whip this thing into shape.
I also have a plan for the lights. A plan that I will be happy with. Hopefully I will continue to have time to spend on my CQ because at this point I am getting a little excited about it again. That is how it is supposed to be :D

so what happened with this beauty?

I'm curious because I just got into my darling cq, a 90 lago blue full stock bought and didnt run. I'm young and broke so 500hp for under 500$ is such an interest for me. Any info and help you can give me for your modification and let me know how this beast is coming would be loved

Can you clarify what rear sway bar you used? What year AWD DSM?
Thanks
Great build.

gh, really, the 500 for 500 thing is for just a couple of basic items. I bought a 20vt long block for $350 and the holset for around $300 and when I sold off some of the 20vt stuff I was cost averaged down to about $500 for those items. A lot of other time and money was required to get it where it is.
Razor, iirc it was a first gen DSM. They are such horrible cars, I am hoping the sway bar will be more reliable for me than the rest of the crap on/in those cars. : )

Thanks. I'd prefer to keep my links, so this may work well. I'm guessing that you haven't had a chance to see how it performs. When do you think you'll be able to get a test ride in?

It was on the road. I just reconfigured the IC set up last month. I drove it very little last year but a few years ago I was driving it every day to work. I am going to be painting it and upgrading brakes soon, I hope.
It performs well. It is about 400hp, and handles very well for a front heavy, awd audi. It always gets compliments when I give people rides or they drive it. If you are in the area you can try it out. I think the sway bar is the perfect size and works well with my coil overs.

A data point. I took a buddy, who happens to be the local car club speed/ice chairperson, for a ride a few years ago and he claimed it's performance was perfect and that was just the handling...(if you read the whole thread) that- is when the car was down on power for some strange reason. Manifold welding issue caused a fail that blocked the flow to the turbo so it was barely 200hp at that moment he rode in it.
A lot of people have ridden it and or drove it.

Drove it a little for the first time after the IC upgrade. VERY GOOD. HP is up. This must be how an HX35 is supposed to pull. I think my transmission is in jeopardy.
I got the front bumper and s2 lights looking good. That bumper was a ton of work to make it good.
Painter came over to look at what his job will be.
I am not painting this one myself. I am trying to do less work - especially stinky stuff.

I will add some pictures soon. I sprayed some shiny black paint on the bumper to see what was what....it's kinda a look.

Impressive work to get the bumper straightened out. What intercooler were you using prior to the Treadstone?

I could do the next bumper in half the time but it would still take long. I had the small NPR ic.

Some of the power is from getting my timing back where it started. It is really good now though. Not as snappy as Hank"s when he had the 2.2 gt35 and e85 but more snappyness then Jim's was at that time. Jim's did have a relentless pull like a jet taking off though so I know he was making good power. FWIW compared to my cq one of those 500hp mustangs feels less crazy, although they have good pull from 70mph (stupid traction control).

That IC is the perfect size! I'm going to need to go with a higher rated one, but what are the dimensions on it if you don't mind?

Sweet always in for updates on this. I have an mc2 bottom end in my garage I think is going to get a similar treatment. Love the low buck forged bottom end approach.

...I can tell you that an MC bottom can take a 35psi boost spike from a holset hx35.

took a quick video today and did some frame by frame analysis and came up with a time of .95 seconds for the speedo needle to sweep from 45mph to 60mph.
that being said, the boost is not a picture perfect 30psi like it should be and my "active exhaust" is currently misadjusted a bit. I am guessing I could be down 20hp because of that. I will try to get the audio cleaned up a bit and post it but have to wait for my buddy to work on the audio.

the bummer is that the shifting/getting out/ getting in of the boost, is what kills the pulls. Kinda makes a fella want an automatic. not really but, kinda
there is the above mentioned pull in there that takes .95 seconds but it was not showcased as such. It was broken down differently.
