Alrighty, ABZ lump is out and on its way to warmer climates. In its place I bought a 3.6 motor from Mark Chang.

Here she is awaiting engine mounts:

I still need to figure out why the header doesn't clear on the passenger side. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more time in this week on it.

Ok, spent yesterday at the shop and have the mounts tacked up :woowoo: (did I mention how easy the PT/ABH is compared to the ABZ?

love that load leveler. $30 from the cummins truckload sale

Right now, The engine is sitting higher than I'd like and I think I'm going to cut the tack welds and move it down a bit. Nate was right, I was able to install the passenger side manifold by lifting the engine up a bit, installing it, then lowering it back down. For some reason I couldn't align the engine and tranny with the manifold on. Good to know.

mounts are now welded up good and solid. Next step is to shave a bit more off the oil pan on the motor for subframe clearance (I may weld up some aluminum down there to keep the flywheel covered up save for a drip-hole).

Yep, not too much further south these mounts can go....

oh, I should mention the reason the mounts are parallel with the body. Sheer lazyness. The mounts I built for the ABZ actually almost fit the PT arms. I just needed to reposition them a bit and everything line up, so, who needs symmetry anyway :-P

Lil more progress on the coupe this weekend. Awaiting some bits and pieces from Javad (clutch, pilot adapter, etc) so I worked on stuff that was easiest to do with the engine out. I swapped the brakes over to the type89 style vacuum assist system:

And also installed a type 85 power steering system since my rack was shot anyway (its a PITA to R&R that thing even with no engine installed!). Also took the opportunity to cut out the rest of the battery tray and paint up the engine mounts

This car may be done.. some day..
