I've been spending the past two weeks looking at an engine bay like that....parting out the 90 20v. It's been cold in the garage too. Ugh.

So I guess I should start getting nervous if I see any "for sale" posts by Toxcheap for RS2 parts? ;)

Well, step _1_ is almost done (pull the damn motor!)

Just have to pull about 2 more bolts out of the bell housing and loosen the passenger side motor mount nut.

Spent the day over at the garage today (temps got up to a balmy 45, which means the garage takes less time to heat up :-P)

Motor is out :woowoo:

While in the process of pulling the wiring harness I realized that the 20v cars got a steering damper (which by the way doesn't seem to have much dampening in it any more...). I think I'm going to need to run a different rack anyway, but if I use this one I imagine it wouldn't be a problem to leave it off?

Getting faster already... I'd replace the steering dampener if you plan on much street driving, one that is in working condition will keep the car from bump steering so much, especially when it's lowered with big tires and extra negative camber... I've replaced 3-4 of them over the years on Dashers and my 20v's

Am I seeing things or was that a pearl car re-sprayed in red?

hmm, good to know on the steering damper.

The car was originally red, but was resprayed during its life.

Spent the day over at the shop today. My goal was to get the engine in for a test fit, which I did. This motor is giving me wood just sitting seeing it in the engine bay. I better make sure I've got plenty of tissues handy for when its ready to start!

I still have a LOT of work to do, starting with welding in some engine mounts.

Looks good in there :-D

Myke helped get the bushing out of the crank

Image

Image

trimmed up the fins on the oil pan prior to install. I still have a bit more trimming to do but clearance isn't bad. I was expecting much worse!

after trimming, and bolted to the tranny (I'll take another pic when I pull the engine back out):

Hood closes with plenty of clearance

:woowoo:

Myke thinks I should twin turbo right away. I should be able to make this header work, right Javad?

Image

;)

And just so he doesn't feel left out, here's Myke's brother Dennis (and his father) hooking up a new winch operated plow to his 4 wheeler.

Even though I had two different cars to work on, I still seemed drawn to Marc's project like a moth to the flame LOL. More comical to Dennis and I was that my father was all gun-ho giving Marc a hand with it. Marc's all business when working on his project and safety comes first as you'll see from the pics he's wearing everything but a body condom  (I got these with the spy cam :P )

Red rocket II!

Why do some guys do massive subframe mods?

Are there different pans? IIRC Nate cut a lot more off the bottom of the "pan flange" and did not mod the subframe???

Good progress! U the s^&t :bump:

Call your doctor if the condition persists for more than 4 hours.
