Audi Coupe Quattro Spring rate for coil over

Hello

as the title says I'm looking for some wisdom in regards to spring rate for DIY Coil over setup.
I know that Aaron's setup was 650/900lb rate for 4 cyl motor in the coupe for drag purpose.

Please let me know your opinion on the spring rate for daily driving using bilsteins HD shocks. with 5 cyl motor. i dont mind stiffer ride.
my current setup is bilsteins HD shocks and H&R srpings which make the rear of the car very soft. im looking to get very little shock travel movement in the back since my wheels are very close to the edge of the fender.

i have since moved to 220 pound rears, it squats now hard. weight transfer function. tip given to me by Marco, THE DSM guy from Magnus Motorsports.

i "think" i still have 650's up front too, but not positive as i change stuff some here and there.

What would be your suggetion for spring rate for track use .

I personally preffer stiffer ride.

i only do that straight line track thing you know, i am not smart enough to turn more than once at the end haha.

and i also have Bilstein HD's i built mine from.

for a road tracked car i wouldnt know for certain but i would go thru like Marks build thread, or Jims, they were both tracked cars.

but like Colin up there said, 400-450's or so is a good starting point and the plus is that springs are cheap and after coilovers much easier to change as you do not need spring compressor action after the switch.

one tlast thing you might look into is the helper spring setup. it make the whole thing more money obviously, but its the little transition sleeve thing and a really light spring to keep the main springs tight in the strut so they do not clang around on big rebounds. and when you jack the car up, etc.

i want to say i believe i read that the Ground Control kits came like 350-400 or 300-350 or something like that.

what helper springs would you recommend , once it get warmer i will start fabricating the uprights,

i used to post almost exclusively on MG, then i got the oppressive thumb from the dictators that ran the place and pretty much gave up. had a shitty week, got a wild hair up my ass, and started to delete EVERYTHING of value for information there (because Javad said he would not blanket delete my entire existence there when i asked him to).

but i brought most of the DIY/helpful stuff over from there.

and, not that it is very pertinent to your original question, i believe we are going to start with 180 lb/in in the rear and somewhere in the 250 lb/in in the front on my new car. but it is an actual REAL car, full chromoly tube chassis car, with all REAL suspension stuff meant to go a fair bit quicker and faster than the current setup. and not break.

Aaron i know what meant about MG

do you have thread about you new car, when your post was alive about the dragster i reviewed it all. You have put alot of tought and skill to build it.

looking forward seeing the new build. im also up to my second coupe which im planning to build slow and to be much faster toy than my red one. sort of project to kill time with friends.
I think i might go 300-400 range springs on my daily coupe and depending how i like them then i decide the rates for the white coupe,

yeah i have the awd one still. its in the trailer ready to go just waiting for opening day. brand new motor in it, has one launch (smashed the rear diff, blew the top off of it) and one dyno session. i took the dogbox out, removed 9 psi from the tune (spins tires at 847 awhp with 47+psi and only 760 awhp at 38-39 psi) and put a stock gearbox back in. just keeping it up so i can have some fun til the new car is up and going which most likely will not be this year unless i stumble into a large sum of money or a real serious cash sponsor.

i did this once before, stole parts and such from my running race car to try and get the CQ up, and ended up parting the other car. i learned not to do that again.

and i do have a thread here on the new chassis, but i dont reply to it anymore, its kind of pointless talking to myself and if i dont get a reply i dont feel the need to update it. i talk to myself all the time here at home, and dont need to go on a public forum to do it more :-)

and that sounds like as good a starting point as any for spring rates. heavier in rear from my understanding.

i can understand that, and i feel the same way at times.

every once in awhile though if it showed interest i would be more apt to converse about it. wait til i post about the turbo i got to run on it.
