C4 S6 pulling to the right and cant figure out why.

my S6 avant all of a sudden started pulling to the right only when under power. like if i stay out of boost and just putt a around it wont do it, as soon as i get into the loud pedal it pulls toward the passenger side. i had it up in the air today and looked over the control arms, ball joints and sway bar bushings and everything seems to check out. could a bad strut stop bearing cause this? i know this suspension is an odd one compared to earlier conventional audi suspension. how do you go about checking the control arms for play in the bushings where it bolts to the body/subframe? this just bothers me and i'd like to correct it before it causes more problems or even an accident. also another thing i noticed is that the drivers front outer CV boot is like collapsed. i've never seen a CV boot do before. could the drivers outer CV make the car pull to the passenger side because its going bad? any help would be great because i have never had to trouble shoot suspension problems in one of these cars before.

Get it on the alignment rack. If something is off or worn you will find it in our measurements. Have you checked motor and tranny mounts lately?

i installed one of my custom solid HDPE plastic front snubber mounts a few months ago because the one that was in there was original and pretty worn out. i've been running them in all my VW's and audi's for years and they have never given me problems. as for the rest of the engine mounts they look alright but that doesnt mean they are. i guess putting on an alignment machine is my only option at this point. do you have any insight on the drivers side outer CV boot being collapsed?

I just noticed this on my dad's s6. His ds strut mount is toast. Worth a look for you.
I will replace it and test drive tomorrow.

let me know how it worked out for ya. the previous owner put H&R and bilstens on the car some 7 or 8 years ago and i dont think the strut mounts have been touched since.

just pulled my shock caps off and the drivers side is up so it looks like this is my problem area. i've been riding on just spring all this time. what causes this to happen, the strut bearing blowing out?

well ringbearer you was right! my drivers strut mount was junk too. took all of 10 minutes and swapped in another one from a parts car for now and the car goes down the road straight. thanks for the help guys!

It's best just to replace all the mounts and control arms in these cars every 80k or so. Buy the kit and be done with it. They do the strangest things when it's starts to loosen up.

another thing i realized is that whoever put the suspension on my car originally never put the lower washer on so thats really harsh on the strut tops too. i added the washers on both sides and problem solved.
