1PissedOff90
Re: 1PissedOff90
Ok... I need to know more about this.
I asked Stasis (before the collapse) about getting some custom Ohlins dampers for my Cq and they flat out refused and wouldn't even forward me any info/contacts at Ohlins. So I gave up and went with KW v3 lol

Re: 1PissedOff90
Keep in mind that for all the issues your standard Koni/Bilstein has in low temperatures with street use (constant bumps, dirt, moisture, etc.), a low-stiction high end damper is going to be even less suited for such use and require rebuilds ever two years or so.

That's kind of entertaining, I'd guess that they simply did not want to deal with it.
Aside from finding a compatable design/spindle, this is probably the best option for recreational use http://www.tritekdevelopments.com/sus_ohlins_mcp.html I am surpprised that Ohlins does not sell something like the Koni 8611, ment to fit in the OEM strut housing.
Finding a good spindle with integrated steering arm would make things easier as we'd just have to get the correct OD and length strut to connect the spindle clamp and top mount. The biggest issue I'm seeing here is that most designs must have the rack mounted fairly low vs our higher mount.

This is a fair point, if I didn't have them in the rear I'd just go for KWs and be done. But I'm thinking I'll be in a new(er) DD in <1yr so the 90 will become the toy sooner than later.

Ha! Yeah, it's a bitch. I wish I could go back and buy the front Ohlins Mance sold about 2yrs ago!! They are currently in the collection of a PNW rare parts hoarder, with and MTM RSR bumper and fenders
They are waiting for appliances to connect the dots, so not a drop in but they went for a substantial discount. Anyway, here's s'more eyecandy

Flip the steering arm over and you can drop it down a fair amount.
Re: 1PissedOff90
Been going through AW archives, looks like i need to take a close look at the MC: http://www.audiworld.com/forums/audi-90 ... y-2123664/
Re: 1PissedOff90
The amount of work done to that car is ludicrous! Wow, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but I'm assuming he made those steering arms? I'd really like a pair of those....

Always interested to hear about the projects that were accomplished on this car. Lots of time spent.
Re: 1PissedOff90
@Scuba, yes, the uprights were made by Mance and are a beta of his "werks" struts. I feel like I saved a pic of them but not sure where.
@Micah, it's really interesting (to me) to go back and read all the development captured in AW and QW. The amazing, and frustrating, thing is how much was not finished and installed (300hp engine, HalTec, Ohlins fronts, CF Spearco Seats, CF Hood, ...).

What ever happened to the engine he was building? Or was it just plans for a 300hp engine? I can't remember

He never finished the engine, sold off the rods and pistons in 2013 along with some other stuff http://forums.quattroworld.com/9080/msgs/37948.phtml
The HalTec was PnP via a jumper harness so it's probably being used in another Champagne car. The harness may be sitting on a shelf, Larry the owner was clear that they did not have anything for it.
Re: 1PissedOff90
Oh yeah, now I remember. That's when I got my Throttle body from him too. One of the last off the shelf if not the last.

Re: 1PissedOff90
Here's the arm answer. Made by AST, but terrybullwon does not recommend them and suggests just going Ohlins. :-/

Who knew the R35 GTR ran such a similar front strut!

Re: 1PissedOff90
So this happened:

It's a 2005 that had "something" happen which required it to be replaced. I'm hoping that it was a chain tensioner issue with some mildly bent valves and a nice forged crank. I'm also hoping to be at a $0 investment once I sell off the VW parts that I wont be using! Don't expect Jim Green pace here, I still have a bunch of work to finish on my CQ before I can even think about taking the 90 down!

It is, somewhat local (<2 hrs when it's not fiddlesticking dumping) and $150 B-)
I have a few other weight saving plans in development plus the front suspension so this is something like #3 (maybe tied for #2) on the list. I've resolved to take the 2.8L to the track and dyno at least once before I make any big investments. Also, I really I need to get the CQ to market if anything big is going to be finished before BBQ.
