It's actually pretty standard sizes on American V8s. I'm going with 2.08/1.62 with the stroker build.

Correct, but my mom wanted me born on Nov 1 as well due to "All Souls Day"(or is it all saints day?), the devil had other plans.....

All torn down! Unfortunately for me, the cam bearings are shot....shit! The plan was just to throw the new cam in and forget about it but noooooooo, there has to be chipped and scarred bearings. Great.

Yeah I'll agree there. $40 for a set of bearings but it just means I'm going to be put a day or two behind. Oh well I guess lol.

well looks like I'm not going to change the cam bearings. Turns out I'm going to have to remove the motor, crank, rods, etc in order to have them changed. Not going to risk doing it myself and dropping a bearing into the pan. There is 0 wear, marks, scratches, or scourges on the factory camshaft journals so screw it. I won't have more than 10,000 miles on this thing when the new motor goes in anyways. The funny part is both #2 and #4 bearing have the same rectangular chunk missing in the exact same spot. Oil pressure was never an issue so screw it. I know this isn't right but I'm not pulling the whole damn motor.

The way I see it --- wasn't having noises, no low oil pressure issues, no issues whatsoever. (not saying it won't be a future problem but meh)

I agree with you, some extra assembly lube will go a long way. Plus by the time it becomes a future problem i'm sure you'll be so bored with this motor a nice crate one will be waiting to go in.

Yeah....should make about 800 - ??? hp on e85 and 12psi with 9.5:1 compression on Aluminum heads. The problem is....the accepted hp limit of the block is about 850. There are a few people trying to push the block to the limits with extreme blueprinting and machine work. I'm following a few people and seeing how it works out for them.

I only plan to run a 650hp tune 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time is when $$$ is involved

Ported the driver side head today. Not really so much of a port job as much as simply reshaping them.

FRICKEN DAMMIT!!! Turns out I was sent big block valve springs and not the small block ones. OYE. However, it looks like one of those rare deals where the machine shop has some wrongly ordered Comp Springs laying around which would be perfect for my application with some minor machining. Have to deal with the place I bought them from in the morning.....great

Got the other head ported today as well. Had to in order for the machine shop to properly get both heads cut for the new springs.

Well...found my oil leak. Turns out the harmonic balancer is completely shot and needs to be replaced. Wore a hole into the timing cover which explains the oil leak. I can't believe the leak wasnt horrendous for the size it was.

I'll post pictures later but the balancer is extremely obvious upon inspection. I'm surprised it didn't fly off honestly.

Off to the yard!!!!!

Getting a new Harmonic Balancer today and reassembling the front timing cover. If only these were as easy to adjust cam timing as the OHC cars. If I choose to advance/retard the camshaft, the whole timing cover has to come off again. Yay lol.

Looking forward to having half the garage back again lol!
