01e oil cooler

Post by quattro »

The 01e I have bought for a project has pipes off it for an oil cooler, do I need to use a cooler or can I just loop the lines up?

I think the prudent question is, why wouldn't you use them?

Why does this one have it when my others don't?

Me too!

Or, at the very least... some detailed pics of the supply and return locations in the casing. Might be a worthwhile retrofit, down the road.

A lot of the benefit is just dumping fluid on the torsen back there. A loop is a lot of the gain and the pump 01e has more capacity. Unless outright race car or tow rig, I think you are good to loop.

Thanks for the info.

I'm converting my urs6 avant to a 2.5tdi 5cyl. Standard it only makes 103kw and 290nm@1900rpm.

This gearbox originally came from a 2.5tdi v6 b6 a4. It has a 3.89 ratio so I don't have to change my rear diff as the s6 was originally an auto.
