Never heard of that myself. The R134 molecule is smaller than the R12 molecule if I remember correclty. So it will tend to leak more often. When retrofitting R12 to R134, rule of thumb is : Change drier/accumulator, drain compressor and refill with pag oil, and re-charge system with @ 80% of R12 charge weight with R134 due to higher operating pressures.........done this many, many times with great results.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Craig.

Does hte 07K use a variable-displacement compressor like my 2.0T MK5 does? Something else to think about...I know the MK5 ECU runs the compressor, but it may not be happy without a signal from a climate control unit that matches.

Just a little update. Decided to go with IE cams and and valvetrain based on the torque falloff on Sean's car. I believe we are estimating a beginning of July ship date.

This car is going to destroy mine... LOL

Dang, I was following an interesting stroker project build and then it turned into an 07k switchover without warning.

The 200 and this motor would have been very similar, but you're a bastard and get e85 lol.

Some manifold building today for 07k longitude setups. Pretty darn equal length and also radial fire. This is also 1.25 vs the 1.5 primaries on the ur20vt. We are trying to have a couple of toys shipped or ready to ship. I'll update directly here.

So on dad's 2.5l AAN we saw full boost at 4krpm. With a turbo bigger than a 35r. I'm thinking we will have a similar boost curve and I'm hoping torque doesn't really fall off until somewhere around 7k. I think this thing will have an insane 4-8krpm power band. Shooting for a conservative 550whp on 94octane.

Hank has the hotside but the rest of the turbo is being shipped to him to prep for battle born. O lawd

Hey Hank, dad mentioned you talked a little bit about compression ratios the other day - what is the plan going to be for this thing? Dad said he said 8.5:1, but I think I recall (a looong time ago) you mentioned to dad that running 9.3:1 on an 07k is like running 8.5:1 on an AAN. Basically we want to hit some higher boost numbers for turbo efficiency so whatever CR would get us into the mid 30s would be great. Thoughts?

Weeeee how was that over a year ago!?

Need to make a to do list for Carlisle. Off the top of my head:

- clean 2" of dust and detail inside and out
- 2b coilovers
- fuel pump install... Probably just replace the 044 that was in there
- remove engine harness
- build engine harness for econoseal (I'll let dad and Marc figure that out
- cut 01e for 07k mounting
- receive engine/install/fine tune

Thanks for the heads up Marc. I'll make sure dad knows that.

Yeah definitely lofty. But if Hank has 07k testing in March... And can ship the engine shortly after. And we can do everything else before then... It could be possible. Lol

Gonna be tight timing for sure. I may have my URQ trailered out east this show cycle if it is running. There are some half mile events in that time frame I want to do.

I hope by "out east" you mean Gila Bend! ;-)

Apparently Comp Turbo have come up with a version 2.0 of their billet compressor wheels. $450 to upgrade including a rebuild and balance, and they claim ~100hp over their first billet wheels. I think this is probably going to happen... We'll have to get Hank to send them the turbo before the build commences.

Wow... 100 hp is no joke. Any links or references on what they do to make such gains?

Yeah no kidding. Don't really have any info... I follow Comp on Instagram and they made a post about their new wheels so I sent an inquiry. They gave me a price, turnaround time, and hp gain, but no tech details.

Although comp has great customer service, I really do not consider them up there in the turbo game. I had nothing but trouble with a turbo I bought new from them. They rebuilt it for me twice, replacing the turbine and center section. Still when it was healthy, it spooled slow and didn't flow as it should have.

If you're not happy with your Comp turbo, my 8374 EFR might be available soon and the hot side is Polydyn coated inside and out. It only has some dyno time and several hard pulls around the house.
