Leave them on. You cannot beat free tires, and the wheels do look good and are light. This car is far from "period correct" I guess so why even bother with something else.
P.s. you can send me a set of those tires any time you want;-). I'll step up to 18s no prob.

I have to disagree on white, Ed. If he's going to run any manly brake pads that white is going to look like crap in a minute...not all red UrQs need to have white wheels. Not that silver would help either. You could go for some gunmetal color, Hank.

It actually has been written that red URQs cars must have white wheels. Sorry Peter. 
Really, these are probably only going to be track wheels. One needs repainting, so I will probably just refinish them silver and call it a day. Maybe I'll spray one white just to see how it would look. Peter is right though, it sucks keeping white wheels clean with these brakes.

Gunmetal or just matte/flat silver would look great as well...but as-is they're a bit too blingy IMO.

I agree with Ed. Too blingy for sure. I need to see a full side shot with two of them mounted though. White would probably be sweet. I'd photoshop that for ya.

well heck, I suppose this deserves an update.
It has been particularly quiet here lately, and that is because the URQ has been suffering from control issues from the ECU. When I put the new transmission in from Scott, something happened while it was running on the lift inspecting gears for sound and syncros. It just started to run like garbage. I could not get a solid 59 tooth count, the wires were doing weird stuff and there was a very odd voltage drop. It had all the signs of buggered driver. Nate at 034 took care of me like always, and looked the ECU over. He could not find anything wrong with it so he sent it back. I scrambled to find a few spare minutes here and there to isolate the problem. I ran new wires, got a new coil, blah blah blah. I could not get the issue sorted. I have been super busy with the FSAE car and as many of you know, that is a Vems powered ECU. I have always wanted to learn the ECU a bit better as there are a dozen cars local to me that could be helped out if I learned the system. I do quite a bit of work for Marc Swanson and really enjoy working with him. He offered me a deal/sponsor on a Vems Econoseal I could not pass up. I figured that if I was going to rewire the car, I should probably do it with a new system and broaden my skill set. Over last week, I have spent an hour here and an hour there to get it rewired. One of the biggest challenges was getting a secondary trigger wired up for cam trigger. I ended up taking a signal off the back intake cam lobe with 034's universal hall sender to get a good signal. Finally the moment came to start it and nothing happened. The bloody trigger diagnostic was showing 56 teeth just like before!! )(*&)(#$@#$. The next day I looked at the trigger bracket and noticed that one of the teeth was missing off the front trigger and another was bent over. WTF!!!! So the good news is that I found it, the bad news is that it kept my new motor and trans off the road for 4 months, the good news is the IIc did not fail, and the even better news is that I have onboard Wideband and EGT logging capability with the vems and a kickbutt little display!!!!!
With a little bit of tweaking on the wheel with a weld and reshape of those missing teeth teeth, she fired to life with a new brain!! I wish I would have put a second trigger into my URQ years ago on the IIc. I have tried to start it at -2C as well, and the success rate is much higher than before. My neighbors are going to hate me less now!

The IIc was a great ECU and really helped me get my feet wet in tuning. I have a lot of fond memories getting the 5ktq running on it, the URQ 20vt and 20vt and then building a monster more and more with each revision. Remember, Javad hooked me up with a killer price on the IIc back when he was selling them out of his closet at home!!! I remember the support he gave me from my Dad's garage when I was in high school!! The Vems is really just another evolution. I love the logging features, the loads of options(the closed loop is particularly awesome) and perameters and most of all, THE OFFLINE TUNING CAPABILITY!!! It is snowing outside right now!! I don't want to be out there!! I feel bad leaving the IIc, as Nate has been so helpful over the years, but the Vems will not only provide a very powerful brain for the URQ, it will also let me master another awesome system! The locals will benefit!!! I can't wait to help the Vems cars in the local community with a bit more confidence!! I will probably keep the IIc around for Lago CQ racecar project, but who knows, I may try a different system for those too.. Time will tell.
While the car was down, I decided to get a little more friendly Spring Mountain turbo. Last year, the 3582r was a blast, but still just a little to big for the smallish course. With fancy diffs now, I feel like I can put the power down a little bit better, but I want to not have to shift into 2nd on a few of the turns. I picked up this little gem for the smaller track and for testing. I can't wait to see how the 11 blade makes power compared to the hta35r!! If the hype is true, I am thinking 550whp/500wtq on e85 with spool around 3500! I can live with that!!

And for peter's sake....
Big thanks to Marc Swanson and EFI express for the support! He probably doesn't want me saying this, but the support is unreal. 12:30 at night his time and he is calling me to see how the progress is going. I wish I could offer the same support for my customers!

Dude, It's always the small stuff that always seems to trip me up like that (referring to the trigger wheel) But I have to say, overall this is a good news update for sure! I can't wait to see it in person at the next Battleborn!
