Post by AngryTaco »

is it just me or are other people constantly getting the 404 messages at random intervals?

what do you guys "get" every once in a while? a 404?

The site has been down a few times (last month it was down for about 24 hours) - is this what you guys mean, or you randomly get a 404 when the site is otherwise functioning normally?

I actually get it quite often. Not a 404 explicitly, but something along the lines of "The page you requested does not exist." I've just chalked it up to my computer being stupid, since I can access both the .org and .net domains and the fact that no one else has mentioned anything.

I was seeing that earlier this morning... I just thought the server had had an "oopsie". Tried accessing it several times between about 7:30 and 10:00 with no luck.

I get this too. It happens all of the time on my work computer, but it happened for the first time this morning on my home machine.

It works fine now...

From where I sit, it looks like a DNS problem.

If I try go to "www.theprojectpad.com" in Firefox I get a "server not found" page. And if I do a nslookup on "www.theprojectpad.com", it's unable to resolve the name (that's as of about 1 minute ago).

But www.theprojectpad.net works both in FF and nslookup is able to find its IP address.

Pretty much exactly what elaw said is describing me too.

It is random, not consistent

My computer bookmark is theprojectpad.com (no www) and it's always worked for me except for when the server went down the one time.

Me too - quite often I'm not able to connect to the site. I try on different devices and with different providers and it's still the same deal - "random" inability to connect... on a regular basis.

This

I get it from different browsers on my phone and laptop. Fairly often, but random. And of course when I linked the block breather discussion from Darin's build to a local forum, it was down for everyone who tried to follow along (works now, of course).

I have problems getting on from everywhere. At work, at home, on my phone. It kind of stinks. Seems to be working ok now though. :wtf:

As a quick fix while it looks like the hosting company is having hosting socket problems, be sure to use "http://www." I am only seeing the problem at weird hours not using the full address "http://www.theprojectpad.com/whatever" instead of just "theprojectpad.com/whatever" :idunno:

At least it gives it a real exclusivity feel :P

Actually my recent experience has been the opposite!

Several times this morning I tried to access the site via "www.theprojectpad.com" and failed, but "theprojectpad.com" worked (as did "www.theprojectpad.net" for what that's worth).

+1, I never use the www and I've never had a problem.
