ATTENTION B2/B3/B4 Small Chassis Owners -- Review!!!

Post by AngryTaco »

Are you sick and tired of aluminum subframe bushings beating you up when you go for a pleasure drive to put Shelby Mustangs in their place? How would you like the performance benefits of aluminum subframe bushings but the comfort of rubber (to a point)?!

Ok enough of the used car salesman, here is the deal:

I can start producing polyurethane subframe bushings. I have been in talks with my poly supplier and they have given me a quote and information on producing these bushings. They will have dimensions based off of the stock bushings and will be a 2-piece design like 034's aluminum bushings (and others that have made them). They will be in 95A (stiff stuff) durameter which will provide the performance benefits similar to aluminum but will also not rattle you apart and absorb vibrations AND road noise a hell of a lot better.

In order for me to start producing these, I need about 15 cars (30 subframes) to get on board with my initial order. Since I'm already down for a set in my car (I am sick and tired of the aluminum ones), I need another 6 cars to sign up.

I will stock these in BLACK only! Please pm if you want a different color! THIS MAY CHANGE THE PRICE!

Price: Each subframe set will retail at $80 meaning $160 per CAR. I am offering a one-time pre-order incentive of $75 per subframe to get the ball rolling. My retail cost may be higher than $75 due to unforseen costs.

I will be posting this in member products too and update that thread as this progresses. Please share and inform your fellow Audi enthusiasts about these. Thank you!

Currently Interested Parties (need 30 subframes to get these going) :

At first I didnt mind them, but I kept getting this resonance that wasnt the exhaust which REALLY annoyed the crap out of me. The vibrations started to bug me after about 3 months. It got old quick. Kinda like the look at my sweet open headers! Then after 5 minutes you get a big fat headache, you get annoyed and pissy, and put a full exhaust on. Even though I will only put maybe 15 miles a month on the car right now (since its going through renovations and repairs), its only fun to drive when I'm hooning it around. The trip to BBQ in Las Vegas REALLY made me hate them!

FYI, I have alum in my coupe and I can hear much more road noise. I will be upgrading to some sometime soon. however, a lot of your resonance is from the engine and it not being zero balanced. once I balanced my crank, much of that type of noise was relieved. It is still not quiet enough to let it be. I want the car to be comfortable like it was new, and still have the performance.

I also assume that was when you were running the 034 motor mounts, right?

Yes. It got better after I installed a set of my mounts but the noise is still there. The noise was awful when the 034 mounts broke....which was about 95% of the time I had the mounts. The other 5% was after I welded them up

I am interested in at least one subframe worth of bushings. I need to drop my rear subframe and do an R&R of everything.

Mind sharing a photo or a sketch of the design? I'm not out to steal anything, just curious to see how you went about it. I'm picturing something similar to the aluminum pieces, in poly, with a large retaining washer. I may consider a set for my coupe. It is getting a full suspension overhaul this winter if things go as planned. My 4k is getting aluminum, but with a slight lift to them thanks to a buddy here. I'm not concerned by vibration on that car since it'll be more like a truck when I'm done with it.

The T44 guys would attempt a threadjack LOL.

Ok so perhaps I should consider doing T44 bushings first then? I need FOR SURE people are ready to PAY within the next month or so.

034 lists 3 types:
-Small chassis "Includes enough pieces for one subframe front or rear on all Audi small chassis cars such as 4000/quattro, UrQuattro, 80/90/Coupe Quattro"
-B4 front "Includes enough pieces for the front subframe on B4 chassis Audi cars with 12mm subframe bolts, such as the late Audi 90 and Audi S2/RS2."
-B4/B5 rear

How different is the B4 front from B3? Is it just a larger fastener? Same goes for the rear.

If these would work for a B4 I'd be interested.

To my knowledge the only difference between the B2/B3 and B4 is the bolt size which can be easily fixed with a drill press and proper sleeve (which will be done by me before shipping out to you).

As far as the late B4/B5, I'm not sure. I have a buddy with a sub-frame I may be able to borrow some bushings from. That or I'll just order one and use it's dimensions. Perhaps someone else can chime in with the B4/B5 specs of the rear?
