Arggggh. While the dodge is in the shop getting the midpipes fabbed up, I started tearing off the passenger strut to finally fix the damn bad hub once and for all. But nooooo, the bastard strut nut doesnt want to cooperate......ugh. I really need an electric impact gun.

Once the hub is all buttoned up, all I'll need to finish the front suspension is some 325# springs and some urq revalved HD bilsteins

Yeah... not looking forward to that when I get it done. The rear is way out, and the front has a ton of new parts. I'm sure nothing is even close to what its supposed to be lol

So started playing with the VEMS software today to familiarize myself with it......holy crap is it different vs my Dodge tuning software. This is going to take some time. Good thing I have another few months before I'm ready to even buy the ECM

yeah, it takes a while to figure out where everything is and then you have to remember that for next time. it takes some messing around with, but with friends that know how to help and some direction from Marc, its not too bad. He has helped me out a ton and I hav'nt called him hardly at all. it really comes down to having a solid base tune that you can start from, after you get all the basics dialed in like setting TDC for your timing. There is heaps of stuff to mess with that I have no idea what it will do, or how it will affect the car. all in all, I'm glad he includes tuning with the purchace of the ECU.

If only the community college offered a course on tuning with Vems. it would take a whole 1/4 to get through everything and be sufficient. But it would be one hell of a fun class!

Re: Taco's 4KTQ 20vt Swap: The Red Baron - Which Fuel Inject

Post by AngryTaco »

Ok everyone. I need some information from yall.

How much fuel pressure are you guys normally running? I have to decide how big of a fuel injector I need to buy. The ultimate final goal is 525 wheel hp. So roughly 630 crank hp or so. I'm thinking the 1100s chris sells would be sufficient. But I'd rather calculate my needs first

well problem is I only want to buy ONCE. I still have to buy the VEMS ecu, the LS2 Coils from varia, possibly a harness, fuel injectors, fuel pressure reg, and a bunch of other misc crap. After that is all done, I have to send the urq cam off to be reground, buy new lifters, etc etc etc etc.

buy my mounts

Personally I'm running a 4 bar FPR for now. Once I go E85 I will need to step up my game to around 6 bar of pressure.

Why do you plan to run such a high base pressure?

I think 630hp roughly = 600cc injectors... so buy the 1100s and be prepared for corn. haha Like Matt said, get the biggest ones you can afford that will still idle smooth.

Yeah I'm going to have to run E85 minimum. On the track, since I have easy access, I'll run 112 octane, and possibly e98 or 114 race fuel for max powah!

I mean hell, I'll be running 10.5:1 compression too

6 bar of base pressure is 87psi. Add 20 or 30psi of boost on top of that and your looking at 120psi of fuel pressure. Not many pumps are even tested that high and most will run out of steam by that point.

My stock fuel pump is running over 120psi right now on the CIS system. Then again, I think the most fuel being allowed to move is a total of 660cc/min due to the fuel dizzy being the limiting factor
