Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
I'm wondering about an anti-ping strategy in VEMS, since the anti-knock isn't supported, or doesn't work right on my AAN. 91 craptane is fine here in CO., but when I get to low altitude, I can get some pinging. I'm going to turn back the boost to help, but if that doesn't get me where I need to be, will just turning back the base timing a few degrees in Primary Trigger Settings>TDC After the Trigger get me an easy/quick fix? I'm only there a few days and won't be at WOT all the time, but there are times...
Re: Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
Make sure your MAT enrichment and timing adjustment tables are aggressive. Under boost control.
Or timing table, select all (ctrl a), hit q twice (removes one degree at a time). Our just remove two degrees above 160kpa or 200kpa or thereabouts. Should have you covered.

Or yeah, take timing out as you said. But the timing table is nice.

Thanks Matt. Here's the mat/ign retard table I'm running. How much more retard are you thinking? I haven't messed with this table much. I made it more aggressive than the basemap was, but...

Re: Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
I just went through mine, and I believe I took out another degree, or more depending on the cell. I didn't go crazy but definitely more aggressive than stock.

Ok then. Thanks.
Re: Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
When you leaving? I'll see if I can get a ss before then but your table looks good if you took out another degree over the base map. If you're not getting too bad of pinging, that table plus a degree or two out in the higher boost cells should fix the problem.

Re: Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
Tuesday. This is what my timing table looks like too:

I can see where I can take out some above 102kpa/3400rpm. I was going to drop boost from 22psi to 15 or so...

What does MAT/TPS ignition retard have to do with altitude change? That table is fine as-is
Dace - cycling the key should help with fueling since VEMS detects atmospheric pressure at start-up.
Regarding timing...thinner air means less compression, which = slower burn, so more ignition advance is ideal at altitude. So yes, pulling back the timing a few degrees would be your best solution. You can adjust the table or TDC after the trigger, it accomplishes the same thing.

I just figured that he could probably keep the timing in the lower cells so adjusting from boost up would alleviate the problem. Without having to touch boost.
And I also have no idea what state his tune is in, so why not have a look at those tables for safety regardless. And he said that he changed his already so it's probably fine. Yo.

Isn't this only the case if barometric correction is enabled? I'm not using that feature. I didn't really like way it worked.

I-15. We'll be stopping in Vegas for a day and then heading on to San Diego from there.

Making it up north or just SoCal?

Just SoCal this trip. It would be nice to travel around a bit more and visit with some car peeps but the trip is about me and my GF. She would be cool, but just cause. Being in Hank land, it's tough not to roll over and check Iroz MS out! Better too cause I'd prolly leave with a few goodies my wallet can't support currently...

ya, you need to have the feature turned on. I've never had to mess with it living in the lowlands over here...what didn't you like about it?

You better stop at IMS!
You may be able to pay with a liver or something, it is Vegas after all!

Yeah, right. I'll keep the liver. But I have two kidneys still...
The baro corr adjustment works from sea level up, but not necessarily the same in the reverse. When you turn it on at altitude it sets the enrichment percentage at +10%(in my case) which was far too much enrichment. Then it leans it out as the car descends in altitude. My fueling was always a bit screwy with it on. This part was likely my error as I might have set the range of adjustment too high. So, I had to tune fuel at the adjusted % and then let vems adjust from there. I didn't like that as I want my shit to be at 100% for where the car is driven primarily. That, plus the amount of adjustment needed is not very much. A matter of a few points is all between home and here at sea level. I'd like to see some F96 support, then I'd mess with it again. The ego correction covers fuel well enough. Having the F96 to make some fuel and timing tweaks would be really cool. That and maybe some action similar to what Motronic uses it for too...

Re: Road trip! Going to Cali from Colorado...
Well, it takes some effort to set it up nicely, but you can adjust the enrichment amounts. Our ECU's are only set up to use "static mode" as-is, which means it just samples air pressure once when the ECU is powered on. Using dynamic mode or anytrim it sounds like you can set it up to do whatever you want. Probably only worth your time if you are frequently changing elevation
