Single Accessory Belt System for Old School I5?

Post by INA »

Not sure where to put this but I am working with Fluidampr to make a crankshaft pulley for the new 07K motors. With an Adapter I can make it work on the old 034 cranks and with the use of a Volvo 2.5 TDi accessory bracket bring everything into 1 plane (A/C , P/S pump , Alternator). More than likely you will need to remake A/C lines but the P/S pump is the usual KYB unit from a MK4 VW Golf , etc and the Alternator is from the ABA/AAA VR6 / every other 2 bolt VW alternator under the sun.

What I want to know is how many people would actually be interested in this?

I'm sure dad would be for his 07k UrS swap since he wants to keep everything. But hank may have another solution.

Still think abandoning the 5 rib is a mistake. I would love the fluid dampener, but i feel like 5 rib is more than enough. I suppose you could always still jackshaft from a 6 rib to a 5 rib to run the offset accessories. The beauty of hte 07k for a lot of folks(anybody doing them longitude) is the short engine. Adding inch to the top of engine length is really a turnoff.

Correction... you would love the ATI, not the Fluidampr. ;)
