Hey it's not even my car! I shouldn't be spending ANY time on it as per priorities and such as Mr. Kat said.

But yes, thanks for the links Ed.

So... everything is sold except the header. Kept the TiAL, turbo, QSV, and t3-qsv adapter. Hank, I think we're ready to join the 07k party :)

Yes. PS will be a chore to sort, but we will get it. The easy way out is electric pump, but we will probably make a special pulley for it and put it on the serp. Stock 07k is R134 just like the s6, so no problems there.

my vote is to convert the brakes over to vacuum. especially since the 07k has a vacuum pump anyway ;)

Very cool :)

Guess the r-12 guys have it a bit harder, oh well I can't do it until CA relaxes its smog laws anyway.

I bet I could get an 07k running on stock motronics without too much trouble. Would lose the VVT without some crafty output reassignment, but the rest is pretty darn close to what a regular 20vt has. Not like it is OBD2 or anything.

Can't be too hard to just swap 134 stuff over to r12 right?

Hank,

It's easy to retrofit R12 stuff to R134 stuff. You lose a little in cooling efficiency, but it's easily doable.

Cheers,

You just have to change hoses for the most part. The r134 eats away and leaks from the r12 hoses. I guess if that is an issue an 07k swap is out of the ballpark ;)

Yes, Good point.

I'd love at some point to try a Motronic AAN. Not that a Motronic ECU is anythign special, but you could crank trigger off the flywheel, with a reference pin on our flywheel, then just convert the 07k hall sensor on the cam to read the open window. After that, it would be just getting oldschool sensors on to make the motronic happy and then manifolds to work in the bay. It would probably not be all that difficult. It would need remapped obviously for the new found affinity for air, but that's the point.
