As soon as I get into boost I start burning oil. Until then no smoke, and after continuous smoke. If these rings/walls are fucked I might use a baseball bat to disassemble the engine.

It could be overfilled oil I guess. Leakdown time. It wasn't smoking last time so I really effing hope it's too much oil.

If it isn't one thing it's another. Sigh.

Well that didn't last long. Something is fucked, going back home. Vems reading lean under any throttle input, pulling injector 5 changes nothing, shaking under load, and driving like shit.

I love this car.

I also double checked timing last night with a different gun, it was spot on.

Not yet, had to go to school so just sitting on it. It's in the shop, I took the geo. Best case is bad plugs, worst is... Well... Much worse.

Definitely check the plugs. They may be clean. If so, then the oil burning may only be from the turbo seals (oil going directly into the exhaust not through the engine). Kinked turbo oil return, or too much pressure in turbo oil feed line can also do that, and not be signs of imminent engine death.

Hmmm, wasn't your turbo oil feed line leaking? Maybe it was just a symptom of a restrictive oil return...

Fingers crossed that it's something like that, ie minor.
Cheers, Brady

Smoke was from over filing the oil, but the other issues... Not sure yet

Matt,

I'd definately check the plugs. Your dad and I had them out a couple times and they looked like they had
been fouled many times.

Keep the faith, your so close.

Cheers,

Sounds like either the ECU or fuel pressure regulator do not have a MAP reference

Ego was working... I'll have to check the vacuum lines but I'm pretty sure everything was connected. Although I did somehow disconnect the speedo at the speedo end, need to pull the dash or have a look up there at least to try and reconnect it.

Vacuum lines check out fine but I might run some new ones anyway.

All plugs look okay but 5 looks like there's no fuel, not soaking wet or black and sooty or anything. Awesome

I think I hate this car. No spark on #5, but I can hear the coil click. Will determine later what the cause is. I also have no injector on #5. All the others click on and off, 5 does nothing. If I lost a coil and an injector at the same time I'd be petty fucking amazed, so my natural thought is to think it's probably the ecu being a fucking asshole instead.

I'm really starting to lose steam with this car after being repeatedly (seriously... how many times now ?) screwed over.

I can't even get to the point of trying to improve things, it's just one ghost after another with a bunch of teases in between. So frustrating.

Matt,

Is there any chance the transistor body's are touching again ?

The last time I was there I even scoped the signal to the #5 injector transister gate from the microprocessor, and all looked fine.

Make sure you have B +on one wire and the other wire is being grounded by the ecm for the #5 injector. If the grounded wire is fully grounded like last time you may have a transistor failing, or touching the neighbour transistor like last time.

I really with I was closer. A little time with the scope and you'd be done.

Feck !!

Craig.

Coil #5 took a shit. Good thing I have a credit with 034. Anyone know what the non-TTL driver coils are from so I only have to get one from 034? I'd like a spare.

These coils: http://www.034motorsport.com/ignition-s ... -p-39.html

Seems like I could swap in an AEM coil?

And I don't know what the deal with the injector was. Working perfect tonight. I did have my order off by 1, that is sorted now too. Rang out each ground and good to go.

Have two coils on order! Woo woo. Time to bleed the brakes and reconnect the speedo.

If previous experiences are worth anything, could be anywhere from 2-1200km. Looking good!
