hehe.. right, I get that, just wondering how you get 180° on a fresh rebuild. Block not set to TDC? Using different Cams? I thought I saw OB post pics of the cam timing marks lined up.. so just curious what is different for his rig to be 180 degrees off

I used the crank cover dots to line up TDC and not the flywheel... So, the crank dampner dot spin twice around for every 1 time the cam gear spins. So, in essence, it's opening an exhaust valve in lieu of an intake valve each cycle instead of the other way around... No crush valves but no start either... On top of it all I was then 1 tooth off on the cam gear due to belt slack... We'll see on the dyno if the intake cam is 1 tooth off as well as right now it's hard to tell... Very deceiving... But I DO have successful start as of now... Yay!!!

Called it :)

Congrats on getting it started. Take a pic of the cams lined up...they're either right on or not. Don't wait till you're on the dyno...

...yeaaaahhh.....I only tune in Patagonia shoes...it's just...you know...*closes eyes, sticks chin up* nice to know you're supporting a good cause...

Patagonia only uses the finest in sub-standard working conditions - an average of 3 people died to make my sneakers, and that makes me feel good about myself.

Did you get my paypal email?

Glad to hear you were able to sort out the issue!

Wow, color me f'n shocked. It seems like it should given that they sell the same piece for all of these cars, and state:

"Fits most all Audi's through 2001.

Does not fit C5 S6, C5 A6 4.2L, V8 Quattro, and A8 models."

It worked on the 3b one that I tried it on. Too small in which way, out of curiosity?

If you want to send it back, I'll sell it....or you can pay me and then sell it if you'd like

Getting it in wasn't where I had concerns, it was how it sat in the housing/bracket... Too much slack....

So I go get some simple silicone and aluminum pipe for my compressor to FMIC situation and I always end up walking out spending more than expected... Not a slippery slope, more like a ski diving...

Any aftermarket snub is going to move around in the stock bracket just like the OE snub moves. You can reduce movement with a cheap rubber pipe cap from your local hardware store, or get the 034 bracket if you want zero movement.

Ended up using a new stock rubber snub (courtesy of Mage) with the stock bracket... It's the best I could do ATM... Funds, time & effort going toward going solid pipe from compressor to FMIC...

That was the "funds" part... the "time" part is happening right now... searching like a mad man for undercarriage pics of FMIC piping on cars with non-stock location turbo's...trying to figure out things like:
...a) should I route behind the radiator or behind the headlight :idunno:
...b) why's everyone trending on moving the BOV to the intake side of the motor :idunno: ect...

I don't understand your a) question... but I chose to keep the intake piping away from the heat of the header and route it on the fender side of the frame rail. Gives you a ton of room.

b) having the BOV as close as possible to the throttle body is ideal

I hope you don't mean the pipe is going to actually be solid (no flexible joint). That is just asking for trouble.

It will have minimal silicone coupling for flexing... Just need to get rid of this temporary situation...
