So, I have this thing running quite well. I'm psyched with how well it's running despite my novice skills in tuning with VEMS. All that's left that I'm comfortable with tuning are little fueling and boost tweaks. And even then, those are minimal. I haven't touched the timing basemap that came with the thing as I'd rather an experience person do that. The new boost settings in VEMS firmware 1.2.9> are really nice. The HTA3073 I'm running is really a sweet turbo. It spools better and pushes more than the GT3071r. 3073 done made 3071 it's bitch! I'm actually running 1.2.11 to run divby9 and the car runs better than 1.1.95. With .95 I would have the random/untraceable trigger error, mostly after starting the car up when it was warm, but had been sitting for a while. It would show up mostly as a big hiccup, once, when first taking off. There were occaisionally some slight misses at higher RPMs, but also rare. They were hard to log as they were so random, and never seemed to happen when running a log. That's gone now with 1.2.11.
I really want to get this thing on the dyno with someone who can tweak the timing, etc. to turn up the wick some more. I'd like to get 400whp out of the thing, which I don't think should be a problem.
However, I still have the problem in the last post on the MG thread. This thing is using oil. The motor has less than 10k on it, and I'm putting 1/2-1qt. of oil in it every 500 or so miles. This shit sucks
. The turbo was suspected to be the culprit by many, including Dave Jones, who built the motor. The turbo was sent to Hank, who determined the exhaust seals to be bad. Some pix of that:

He replaced them and had it balanced by a Garrett shop and the snail went back in. I picked the car up and drove it home. No oil consumption.
I drove it 350mi. to Santa Fe the next day. It used a qt. on the way down
When I drove it back, it used maybe 1/4qt.
Since then, it was a bit random but lately it's settled into the above consumption
. I talked to Dave about it and he said there would be some consumption when cold because the forged pistons needed to expand into the cylinder. I haven't heard much about this but I trust his knowledge. He's built a motor or two.I'm pretty much at wits end with this one
. I don't know where this amount of oil is going and for a >10k mi. motor, this shit shouldn't be happening. Could the turbo seals have shit the bed again? If so, why the hell?!?! Would compressor stall cause damage like this? I can't help but think that there are a few demons at work here...
