RS2 bracket bolts

Post by Zerb »

anyone know where to source these pieces of gold? RS2 brackets to boxster s calipers.

12 x 1.5 x 25mm for the bracket to the strut
12 x 1.5 x 62mm for the bracket to the caliper

McMaster Carr aint got shit in that thread pitch.

Fastenal.

Odd sizes like 62mm are hard to find unless you buy Audi Factory for $$
Here is a 65mm and take it to a sander.

These are HHCS (Hex Head Cap Screws) however, If you are looking for SHCS (Socket Head Cap Screws) I can't find much either.
Best of Luck!

ya, the shorter bolts those will work. the issue is the longer bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket NEED to be socket heads from what i can tell. you may be able to get away with a flanged head, but im not sure.

After looking around unsuccessfully (McMaster, local Fastenal dealer, etc.), I ended up just getting the SHCS's (caliper to bracket) from the Porsche dealer. For the other bolts (bracket to knuckle), I just trimmed down my original caliper carrier bolts. There is not enough room for anything else as the counterbore was sized for the smaller head of the SHCS.

Since I was only buying two pair (less than $20 IIRC) it didn't take long at all to spend the difference in cost in my time looking for a cheaper source. Of course they needed to order them in as well.

so, how does everyone feel about these bolts. they are the part number listed above that i looked up to fit a stock porsche 996 body style with the calipers i have...boxster S.

i see that apikol has 2 different sets listed, this is the longer, 72mm version, of those sets. i dont see what it could interfere with, then again i havent had them on the car just yet.

The OEM Porsche application has those bolts going into the aluminum wheel bearing housing, which is probably much thicker than the steel bracket. You probably want RS2-length bolts, which use that thinner bracket.

Bolted up to the car they have no interference with anything. I guess I'm just not seeing, or understanding, the issue with using these longer bolts.
