Was running 044 in Silvia(the 93 UrS4 on page 1)... But it lasted 3 months after purchased from 034.... So yeah, I've lost confidence in Bosch products in a way, specially after failed POR's as well... Anyhow, years have past and Bosch has yet to make any revisions to the 044 or produce any other enticing fuel pump alternatives while other companies keep cranking out options.

I'm convinced that I can run a one pump fuel system on stock lines for my goals. Might just need to bump up my circa*2005 Siemens Deka 60lb FI, but that will be later after I max them out on pump. Unless I find a set of ID's or FIC's on sale... I've heard of Ford Mustang EV14's working well too, but I think they're 550cc as opposed to my already 630cc setup...

I don't know about fitting it but I've been thinking about that walbro "400 E85" also. Though I am tempted to put it in a surge tank.

Defective parts happen. Bosch builds good stuff, on the whole. I would doubt that you'd have the same result with another pump. Look at how many 044s are in service vs reported failure rate. How did 034 handle it when you told them about yours failing?

Prepping my 91 M5 Dinan for sale to fund 07K and EFR build for my UrQ. May also sell Lotus Elan resto project. PM if interested in either.

This was the pump...

Has the Billet Ring for "factory basket install"

Since I purchased it from a project gone wrong, I wasn't the direct original owner, so nothing was done by 034...
The product was new never used when I purchased it 2nd hand. So technically it went straight from 034 to a someones basement, sat for 1 month then purchased by me when my OE Bosch pump crapped out at a dyno day... Back story here

Yes that was a fuel pump removal gone wrong...

I feel like I could possibly still use that Billet Ring by pressing it out somehow. Maybe I should place this pump in a bucket & wire 12V to it and see if it comes alive again...

Well, as usual with any build, a hurdle has risen... The machine shop cutting the seats calls me in to have a visual inspection of what he's encountered with the head.

I prescribed cutting the OE valve seats to accommodate larger valves. They go ahead with one exhaust seat and finds that our seats are the same size as the valves and when cut the valve itself doesn't rest on the seat but protrudes into the aluminum portion around the seat as well.

Is this normal? Usually seats are larger than valves and allow for cutting but it doesn't seem like the case on our AAN heads... If I need to reseat the head, I'll just slap my old head on it and run a stock port as I'm not about to spend another grand on that...

Left has aluminum blurring the seat line, Right shows where that line should be

.5mm oversized? My valves went in with no issues like that, but they were only .5mm oversized.

Odd..I'll be using the same brand/size valves as yours..my head is also at the machine shop this week. I'll let you how it comes out.

Looking at your projet makes me think of mine, almost the same build as yours!

Looking great!

Thanks Dave.... The approach we're taking is perhaps the most sensible in terms of $$ vs Gain... This being said I might just go stock port on upgraded exhaust valves.
