-width of hatch opening (basically between the taillights)
-width of hatch glass (straight across bottom on the inside for easiest measurement)
-height of hatch (straight across the inside for easiest measurement)
Just some crazy daydreaming...

For now just rough exterior measurements should tell me if I'm crazy or stupid enough to think about trying itroortube wrote:remind me and I'll get measurements for you tomorrow when it's light outside. between the hinges too maybe?
Roortube posted some dimensions in my MG thread: http://motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=51355quattro wrote:I have a b4 quattro avant and a c4 a6 quattro avant, there is no way the c4 rear will work, it is a lot wider than the b4

That sucks, so even if you imported a body you couldn't make it legit? I really like my b4 avant, going to go with a 2.5tdi for itMcstiff wrote:It's not legal in the U.S of Aquattro wrote:Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a b4 avant?
Our govt is pretty touchy about swapping VINs. It is irrational since i can build a "Ford" model T with 2 blown big block V8s and be street legal in most places but swapping parts onto a B4A shell is a no no. There are a few RS2s in the country and one being build on a S2A chassis but I'd say they all are skirting the law, until they are 25 yrs old then we can import anything.quattro wrote:That sucks, so even if you imported a body you couldn't make it legit? Yeah, it could be done. I think I posted a list of part numbers to convert a sedan to an avant on QW like 2 years ago. IMO, building a "RS2" Sedan is the way to go since they only made 3 anyway. Eventually you'll be able to import a S2A or RS2 for less than the fabrication time of a conversion but the market will never be flooded with RS2 sedans. Also, remember that Porsche did not want to build RS2 sedans because they would be too goodQuattro v1.0 wrote:People import JDM WRX / STi front clips all the time so importing an B4 Avant rear would be costly but not impossible.
From there, this project should consist of grafting the rear third of the Avant to the Sedan body. No Big Deal! ;o} But at least you get rid of lots of obstacles like cutting glass and sectioning lift gates and what-not.
