a quest for aero....

Post by speeding-g60 »

just bored here at home so i grabbed a 120" x 15" chunk of .050" aluminum sheet and am doin a lil somethin somethin.

after doin a fair bit of reading on the subject, i think it is time for me to try it out. made this on my old Euro Cabrio bumper, this way i can hot-swap either bumper for back to back runs. piece of cake.

of course it isnt finished, just started playin with this stuff tonight.

yes, it will have reinforcing at the bottom.

yes it will have a splitter.

yes it will have splitter supports.

no, i really dont have a clue of what i am doing, but just my usual trial and (hopefully not too much) error tactics.

i read, a LOT, and i tend to digest what it is that i read and try and see how i can make it work for me.

This may be the only good use for a USDM bumper.

The design would be slightly different but I was thinking you could just wrap the bumper part without the surround. Various options for support.

ahhh, yeah, there is that. but the weight of the US bumper is in that support. and then there would be that hideous gap on top.

these Euro bumpers, just some plastic and a plastic reinforcement. nothing to them. 4 little 8mm bolts hold the entire thing on. no huge shock type dealios, etc.

some pix.

it will be one piece all the way back to the trans mounts to the subframe. splitter will (should) help clean up the air underneath and get slippery to the airstream. at least i hope anyhow.
