You need the trim piece above your aux gauges! Audibits is selling one on ebay.uk......

Nick...I've got a lot of those bits and pieces... k24, 20vt bottom end, aan injectors, etc... Maybe we can do some bartering for services to keep you under budget...

Skip the aan coils unless they are free...the 2.0t cops are cheap and reliable.

And I'd also not completely rule out the use of your 7A bottom end with a CDHG. It would give you a more off-boost friendly CR than the 20vt bottom end would. You also wouldn't need a CDHG with the 20vt bottom end as teh CR will already be lower than ideal. It really depends on the power goals, as the 20vt setup should be able to be pushed further than a CD'd 7A due to the forged pistons and likely lower CR.

Nick's Black 90 - Ghetto 20vt: Collecting Parts

Post by nsimps »

Thanks Darin!

Chris, my power goals are more or less stock 20vt numbers, but with most of us here, that could change very quickly ;) In all reality it will come down to what is the best cost with keeping some reliability. If I went with the 20vt bottom end that should lend to being able to upgrade ECU, turbo, fuel ect. while keeping the motor in place(theoretically). I would love to see what we can work out that will benefit us both on the parts you have :)

Yeah, Nick I would stick with the 7a and detail chris's urS enough to have him take .020" off the top of the 7a pistions. This will drop the pistons to stock AAN level, be virtually free, and allow for modest levels of boost you are after.

I'll help with the downpipe if you need one. I owe you more than you owe me in the help departement.

In that case, we could even just use and modify MY 7a parts to build the bottom end if you are worried about downtime on your car. Then I'd just take your bottom end in exchange.

Nick's Black 90 - Ghetto 20vt: Collecting Parts

Post by nsimps »

Hank that would be awesome! You tell me, but would it be better for me to send you my AAN intake manifold to have modified or search for a 3b setup?

Chris - so when do I start the detail? ;)

Should have the AAN ecu on the way this week, just sent payment over today :)

This will make a great winter project to gather parts and get things ready so that come spring/summer it can all go together with zero issues...right?...right?

I think you should work out a trade with me on your DRZ :) It's too cold up there for it this winter anyway!

Hank

OEM is usually the cheapest and easiest all said and done, but if you wanted to put a front mount in that giant hole of yours in the bumper, a front facing modified AAN would be pretty easy to do. Cheap as well.

Too bad I couldn't have sent it out with Dave on his way to Cali ;) Took it around the block last week - Battery was about dead :(

With the Evo 8 intercooler it might be best to do the AAN IM for this one, especially with all the room behind the bumper.

Ben - The current plan is to make it to BBQ :) And by your asking is that a confirmation you will be there as well? :hide:

Didn't realize there is supposed to be a piece there. Is that a European thing or should they be on the US spec as well?

Both euro and us spec. You can find them in US junk yards but the shipping from the UK isn't that bad.

I pulled one for my old 93 90 from a 95. The B3 and B4s had them.

Nick, that DRZ would be turbo'ed before you leave town :) I am thinking 75whp and a bigger sprocket will get me some good gas mileage to the speedway and still have enough umph to keep the pesky 600cc sport bikes at bay. A motard would be perfect for my all 55mph freeway rip to the speedway 20 miles a day. I am rolling mileage on the poor URQ, and risking getting impounded nearly daily.

Nick, I'll donate the downpipe, wastegate, k24 and water/oil lines. I think I have an extra AAN oil filter housing as well, though I do not have an oil cooler you will probably want.
