warning, to all those who think that this is a one man job, think again. Ask me how i know. The car is as ready as it will be for this and I am just waiting for my help to arrive to help me with the rest.

The front fender is the smallest part so I thought to try it out first. Seems to go on well enough, but you absolutely have to go slow and if head is needed, to be used sparingly and not too much.

1 roll, 60 in x 15 yards. Good thing here is I can get the same price per roll if I run out locally :)

How much did you get the vinyl for? I need some for my projects too.

I know its not one men job.
I covered a few small parts and then we did try a C class hood.
Wasn't that hard, but it definitely not an easy job for first.

here is one for the hood:

20.00/yard at Regional Supply in Salt lake.

This is a very hard project so far and I've botched the trunk, one door and a fender. No idea how I'm going to do the rear quarter panel.

I'm getting the hang of this :) after some careful planning and a practice run with a scrap piece I did the rear quarter panel. It's time to call it quits for the night but I'm much more optimistic than I was an hour ago :)

for bumpers and corners a heat gun and another set of hands will be your best friend.

That is looking pretty good Nick. I still have a ton of body work around my coupe before I am ready for wrapping, but I have a cabriolet that I turbo'd that needs some vinyl loving

ha! I really did contemplate doing an all nighter, but figure Hank owns that domain so I'll let him have it

Taking the day off work has crossed my mind more than once but with the hot afternoons it wouldn't make a good atmosphere for doing more. Seems that the evening/late night is the best time right now.

I have learned a lot so far and should be able to lend a good hand when you get ready for yours!

That looks great! I'm going to try to source some of this stuff for my car once the paint is done. It may seem odd to cover up a good paint job, but I'm not so sure how great it's going to be and having a vinyl ffilm over top of the paint might offer some extra protection. I really like it, thanks for sharing!

I will have to find out. The way I'm going at it, it shouldn't be a problem though ;)

How durable is this stuff? Can you wash it? Winter it?

:-) This particular vinyl is rated at 7 years life span. As far as washing it, I believe that regular car wash will do just fine but will be asking around before I go for it. For regular detailing I use Griot's Garage so they will be the first one's I ask as there is a gallon of their car wash is in my garage :)

I am done with both sides and the lower part of the trunk(which was a lot harder than it looks). I have some sanding to do on the spoiler and the front grill surround on the hood so that will take up the next hour or so. Hopefully I get some more help tonight and possibly finish off the trunk, roof and hood!!

The paint on my B4 is pretty crap in places. This might be a good temporary solution.
Do you have to have a smooth under surface?

The hood has a lot of little pit things from a cotton tree. I wet sanded the whole hood, roof trunk and other parts where there was bad oxidation. I used 400 grit on the rough parts where the rock chips where and 1000 grit where the oxidation was and the hood. Note that this does not allow for as much free reign on pulling and resetting as there is on a nice clear coat. After sanding I wiped off as much residue as possible then washed it with a Dawn/water mix in a bucket, let it dry and then went for it.

Tonight I finished the following:
- Hood
- Trunk
- Sanded and painted front bumper with Matte Black rattle can paint(rustoleum).
- Driver rear quarter panel

My help didn't come tonight so all of this was done solo. I was very nervous doing the hood and am glad it turned out so well. I put the grill back on and temp set the bumper just to see how things are going to look. Seeing it come together is very rewarding and hopefully tomorrow night I'll be able to get the roof and at least the rear bumper done. It looks like 15 yards isn't going to be enough so a trip back to Regional Supply will be needed. I'm guessing it will be about 3 yards more to finish out.

The more I finish the more unbecoming these wheels look. Need to get tires for my Team Dynamics...

Finished up a few odds and ends, cleaned a few parts and put the tail lights back on. Tomorrow is roof, spoiler and bumper day.
