I hear ya - I wanted to use the top outlet of the IC to TB route, but it required some sharp bends in the pipe to make it work due to the top of the center support and the hood release cable and I didn't want to start cutting that up and putting in hood pins. I'll rework the end tank so that the new outlet will be the most pronounced (instead of leaving it at the top).

I was thinking about the BOV on the IC too, but space is pretty tight up there.. Haven't given up yet though

HL=(Kl*V^2)/(2*g)

Where Kl is the loss coefficient and V is the average velocity of the flow.

For 1000 CFM, average velocity in the pipe is about 103.5 m/s so the head loss would then be ~163.9 meters. To get pressure drop from head loss, we have:

delta P = rho*g*Hl

where rho is the density of the fluid.

This gives us a pressure drop of 1606.5 Pa which is equal to 0.233 psi. So at least in theory, each elbow might account for about a quarter psi in pressure drop.

at what pressure

That equation is only governed by flow rate, not pressure. My other calculations were all done at 30 psi.

I forgot to say that I used a loss coefficient of .3, but depending on the quality of the bend, it can be closer to one which would make for a little over 3/4 psi drop.

Than have you thought about piping material, smooth vs cast, would really like to se flow differences on a flow bench, not like it really matters on a 5 cil, the head is the biggest pressure dropper.

"I was thinking about the BOV on the IC too, but space is pretty tight up there.. Haven't given up yet though" See if there is room on the inlet side so the BV will release the hot comprased air and not heat soak IT since You are not recirculating the air.

the bov valve should be post ic as to not have to back flow to ic to relieve pressure

Can you provide me with the details on the helpers? Where'd you get the springs and the collar that sits between the springs?

Thanks homie!

Woah sorry for the delay! I'll have to dig through my receipts to get the location. They're nothing specific, but I'll get you the details!

And a pic just to let you all know I'm still working!

Looking great man!! Pretty neat idea with spacing the engine mounts down like that. My 1.8T IAT hits the hood.

I also like the mounting of your VEMS display. Probably much more visible then mine.

And you still need this: http://www.germanautoparts.com/Audi/200/Cooling/212/1 (LOL). Don't make me buy one and ship it to you as a gift.

Haha! Look at the glorious engine bay and that grungy container, sorry I'm picky about that. Hell, I'd say change the master cylinder reservoir and hydraulic fluid reservoir too but those things are HUGE money. That'd also make me a hypocrite because mine look like poo too, lol.

Ha, same... Dunno if you saw mine @ carlisle but it looks terrible...lol. Completely out of place in the engine bay. A new one is on order.

At least on all of the Audis I've owned, the hydraulic fluid res is actually yellowish plastic, so not much you can do about that. New brake fluid res would look nice tho.

Oh I saw it. Gave it the epic stink eye too, lol. Change it, flush your coolant system and refill with G12+(+) and distilled water. The pink coolant makes the older models feel younger.

You are correct about the hydraulic res. Always yellow. I should paint that bish.

You could replace the stock hydraulic res with something aluminium.

You routing looks nearly perfect, shortest I ever seen, I would say use short radius cast elbow for intercooler outlet, then 45 deg bend , then you need only straight coupler and you are done with shortest interocooler piping ever.

Yeah yeah, I'm on it. The coolant has not even been in there more than ~8,000 miles anyways. The reservoir looks terrible though.
