Had to refresh my mind on your project. Looks like a way nicely done T44. I've probably got a lot more miles in T44s than I do in small chassis Audis and still have that soft spot for them. Yours looks clean.

All I have to do is put each end in a vice... et voila. Plus I like that it's a TAP piece that is NLA. Welding one in would make it a bit of a hassle to work behind the motor too..Casey O

Yeah............depending on how much more clearance he needs looks like there is at least 1 1/2 of material that can be cut out before he gets to the hood sheet itself.

Not to argue the point....read...NOT to argue the point but,
I just don't c the big deal here. The support's aren't even welded or seam sealed the whole length of it.
I cut out the support on a spare V8 hood and bolted it up. I left the hood shock supports and used hood pins at the bottom (or front of the hood) and it wasn't flapping around while driving.
Mind u I only tested it for a few rips around the local streets and highway, so I can't say for sure if the hood would just rip off the car at speed but u would only be cutting a small amount of it and then just boxing it back up to form a outline against the under side of the hood.
That's all :-)

Started working on getting the IC mounted today

Moved the aux radiator upward to make room for the IC - This also lets me keep the hood latch




Then I wanted to use the stock crossmember and snub mount, so I had to do some cutting... welding to follow



Removed:

Modify snub


Cut the crossmember and will weld in some gusseting

About 3/4" between pulley and IC

Here's where I left off:

Its called a strut tower bar and I don't think Casey has driven the car with it on. Its good to have though because the stock firewall cracks where it meets the strut mounts. The strut bar should help that from propagating.

I'm the one that sold that strut bar to Casey. I called TAP one day and asked if they had any left, and they told me they had two 20v bars in the back that were beat up. Bought them cheap, and I ended up selling them both for cheap since they didn't really fit my 20v, but appeared to be 20V bars.
And then I bought a 20v TAP bar from Steve Ankney (that was actually mounted on his 20v 5000TQ), and funny enough it hits a hard fuel line when I try to bolt it onto my '90 10VTQA! Haven't had the time to mess with figuring out how to mount my TAP bar. Haven't had much time to do anything to the cars of late - new house.
