Noted. This was my first attempt at a 200 motor. I have one here that I could do off the pictures you gave, or we could just get yours in the mail for rework.

More work completed!

First task was to replace the non functioning ebrake cables...
Image

New
Image

Nice to have an ebrake finally - never did before on this car

Next up I wanted to swap my springs front to rear, as the car felt unbalanced and rode like a pickup truck.
Image

and out of curiosity I wanted to see if my wheels/tires would contact the fender, and it looks ok - even at this level there wasn't contact! But I still wish the wheels were sized properly... some other day when I have funds to throw at it.
Image
Image

T44 guys understand that when you put Bilstein sport shocks in the back of your car, a mysterious knock comes around and drives you nuts. You replace every suspension component and it still doesn't go away. I have always thought that it sounded as though the strut was hitting the body... welllllllllll yes it is!
Image
Image

smooooshed
Image

Time to space the struts a bit to lessen the amount of threads above the strut mount!
~20mm
Image

Washer spacers
Image

~16mm. We'll see if that takes care of the knocking.
Image

With the car back on jack stands I reinstalled the driveline
Image

and then spent lots of time getting all of the plastic in the front end back together - the brake ducts, radiator ducting, and making small connections like the horn, oil temp/pressure, etc... I dropped the rear ride height 12mm to lessen the rake. Eventually it looked like a car again!

And a shot of the office... Sure do miss spending time here
Image

All of this push was to get the car in one piece to move out of the shop since we've been asked to vacate, now delayed to Sept. 1st. What remains to be done is the intake/IC plumbing, Turbo back exhaust, ECU, and TIGHTEN THE CRANK PULLEY!!! Can't forget that one.. That's all for now 8)

Can you give ne a dimension from the back of the head to the firewall? Do it by where the cam seal is on the drivers side

Hank - there really isn't a passage for a forward facing intake on the 200.... The guys at Rene Rumler used a smaller radiator and moved it back for clearance... Might be worth pursuing

is that what the knock comes from!? Cool! It's driving me INSANE!

I wonder if drilling a larger hole in the area where it contacts would work as well?

There is suppose to be a rubber spacer on the rear bilstein's. It sits on top of the washer at the base of the threads, also be careful not to over tighten the top nut with said spacer installed.

That is one nice T44, like what you've done with it. Love that intake and header.
Just curious, parking it all winter?

It hibernates for the winter, otherwise Vermont would rust it back from whence it came 8)

Yea, i figured. Not sure if my 4k will be parked, such a shame with such a fun blizzard car. I drove it last winter a little bit. I'm going to cosmoline the heck out of it like i did my MB wagon. I drive the MB year round and the cosmoline really helped. I completely tore out the interior, cleaned out rockers, doors, floors, etc and coated it all like 5 yrs ago, holding up pretty good. Such long winters to park a car, I sooo effing hate salt!

Thanks for the kind words guys! Yoda, that looks like the solution! I bet it got chucked since I'm a big ol dummy.

Yea, the 200 enjoyed a couple winters and it was fantastic! I just can't let the salt get to it anymore. I'll have to pick up a beater quattro some day for the winter. Nothing goes through the snow like these old things... Puts my subie to shame
