so i been real busy as of late.

out of town n such. the Maui thing, Socal, etc.

last week was 90 hrs workweek, that shutdown continued on into this week. and now out of town again.

but home today. got the garage cleaned up, got the car unloaded from the last showing..... at a new Audi Dealership Grand Opening. Derek made that happen. i met Yohan de Nysschen (President of Audi of America) and briefly hung out with the upper crust..... 400 RSVP invites. thanks DEREK!!!!! they unloaded the car and set it up, i got there after work. lots of R8's....

but i mounted the new Longacre rearview mirror. up in the headliner area, to the cage halo. will be cool. the bracket was for 1.5" cage, mine is 1.625, so i went to it with grinders :)

anyhow. here is a picture of me (fresh from 13 hrs work at a steel mill) with Yohan de Nysschen at that event. i did talk a little about the race car with him, and he was impressed with it.

Image

here is him blessing the new dealership, and later presenting a token of gratitude to the new Audi dealers...

Image

Image

oh, and here i am with one of 224 Group B 1984 Audi Sport Quattro cars....

Image

wait, wait. here is when i first showed up to the black tie affair, knowing full well i was going to be under dressed. this was after all on my way home from work, and i had dropped off my race car trailer @ 4AM that morning so Derek, Trever, and Joey and Carrie of DJM could unload and prep my car to display it.

Image

and here is the view i took of the upper balcony at the ceremony.

Image

the parting shot as i went to get my trailer and load my car up. that sure is a nice car.... there were a number of R8's there, but this one was the nicest i must say. i am not a fan of RED, but it fits the car.

i shoulda got gearset in June, it was ~$4700 USD. now the AUD is really proud, and its actually >$5700 USD!!!! cost plus ship is $5650 AUD i believe....

i am working on my own gearset ratios, to do what i want it to do. 1-4 with low 9 and ~150 for a 1/4 mile.

they said the Torsen diff i have is from V8 rear..... a little machining of the case and it goes right in the front house of the 01E. i do notice now some side to side wheelspeed differences when running it hard.

did some hardline work, not too sure i like it. i will let it be for a little while to see if it grabs me. if not i will do something different. but that damned "Y" fitting. its not standard. IIRC a 30 deg fitting goes too much in to the centerline. i dunno.... i am not worried about flow.... it flows good. thats the thing about using radius bends over hard 90's, etc. just the looks. not that anyone will ever see it, but you know me by now....

Image

also, i made the turbo inlet today. has its own thread, but i put the info here too.

boredom sets in. i saw a picture, and thought it would be neat. definitely function over form. but my stuff gots to look good too. it'll look ok i think, when its done.

made a frame out of 1/2" SS tubing, i have some of that lying around. then stretched an old T-shirt over it, and then resin'd it up. then it just progresses from there.

and now its time to get busy. this was the prep work, and i discovered that FG resin/hardener has a shelf life LOL. more the hardener actually. got a new gallon of resin, set out a work space, and began working. also had to pull all the old (4th year they been up LOL) xmas lights and hang new lights in this as well. at the end of this, i sent it off with Chad (guy who was supposed to paint the race car originally) for the final touches. he is good with body work and smoothing stuff....

Looking good, I wish I could sacrifice a headlight! What are you going to do with that pink sheet when you are done? You should use it to make seat covers.

so the car won first place at the WaterWerks car show a couple months ago, and PVW has some shots from the show.

its pretty cool that i got two pix of it, and the larger size as well.

and i got some CompBrake solid topmounts. but i cant talk about them. would not really like the wrong intent to come of it.
