Re: Aarons Drag CQ: 7-7 test results......

Post by speeding-g60 »

did a different window net, and made it much more user friendly. followed the destructions the first time around, and then i have made my own setup.

before you had to locate a tab to slide the top rear bar into, then line up the net, etc. no more. the rear top mount is a heim end on the rod, and it stays put so its a lot easier to operate.

going to a car show next weekend (WaterWerks), and Eurotuner and PVW magazines will be there. the only reason i am going is for those two magazines to see the car and maybe/hopefully want to do an article on it. there was going to be a dyno there, but last week the owner of the dyno killed himself so there is not going to be that now. but if the dyno was still going to be there, it would be over. there isnt any other high WHP cars like this anywhere here in the PNW.... so it would definitely had the first place high hp trophy. other trophy's it may get are Best Engine, best Early Audi, best Other Audi, and maybe Best Audi overall although that will probably go to more streeted cars. if the guy with the blue A4 goes, he will prob get that one....

That blue car is pretty nice, except for the hood mod/eyebrows. They create a disconnect between the lines of the grill and headlights. Just don't go together anymore...

I don't know if I'd go that far  AMD has a couple 600whp B5 S4's

Goodluck at the show, WaterWerks is one of my favorites. Are you taking it to the strip? I'm sure either PVW or Eurotuner will want to do an article about your car, there really is nothing else like it in the US.

yes.

it was hot as hell here.

first pass 1-2 shifted fine, mis 2-3 a couple times and ended up in 1st gear again. revved to 11,495 rpm, thought i was gonna do a stoppy. sorta coasted to finish, pushed the gas at the top to watch boost gauge for the hell of it.

checked it all out, seems good.

run 10.9 @ 131. hot as hell....
run 10.8 @ 133. hotter yet.
turn up limiter as i am right on the line when shifting to 4th.
run 3rd out, 10.7 @ 138 but i put a window in cyl 1.

done for awhile again.

taking donations for parts;

AZG block, or any 20v 1.8T 06A block. have crank already for it.
pistons. 2.0L stroker 83.5mm 20mm pin.
rods. 144mm x 20mm pin.
20v 4cyl head maybe.

dunno. fight is out of me again for a bit.

funny, the car must KNOW i get a bonus check from work this coming week. i woulda spent it on the car under other circumstances, sheesh.

oh well.

thats racing.

but i did get one pass closer to havin the license :)

Aaron, you have a whole lot more patience than me. That just isn't right. Do you think that you just over revved it? No limiter? I've got a set of 144mm Scat rods that could be donated to the cause. They aren't being used right now other than sitting on the shelf. You would even have a spare 5th one to replace the occasional bad rod that gets thrown out the window. :hide:

and some vids. the battery pack for inside cam died at the line, no vid for the mis-shift inside.

run 1 outside is taken from the start box, the mis-shift vid.

i need to one day get vid from the big end. my friend Chris was down there on run 3, and said it sounds wicked as all hell breaking loose coming down the track.

John, it has limiters in each gear. and they are all set differently. what happened cant be protected from with a programmed setpoint for RPM. it shifted from top of second gear back into first instead of third. so a mechanical over-rev. 11,495 rpm i saw on the log :o

hmmmm. SCAT rods..... usable for 4cyl? will take under advisement. and if they are needed for the next build,. i will hit you up for sure. i appreciate the offer. today, one less thing to buy is that much closer to running again.

seems i have 92.8mm and 95.5mm cranks available. both can be used for a basic off the shelf stroker setup.

but one thing i notice, the car is really mild mannered. now i dont even two-hand grip the wheel for launch. calmly resting one hand in my lap, i wait to need it to shift with. HAHA. and it tracks nice and straight.

i will get it torn out this week, head off tomorrow more than likely. hope the damage to the head is minimal but it wont be. will have to put all the solid lifter stuff into the ported backup head i think. and reset the lash for the shims, etc. oh joy.

Well then... all I can say Aaron....Your build thread is the very definiation of perseverance. I CAN'T WAIT to see this beast at waterlands man! I am very excite!

I love how calm you stay once you see the smoke boiling out, cracks me up. It might be hard for me not to have an emotional reaction to it taking a crap on you like that, even though you did hit 11,000 rpms af :dur:
