so, i am only waiting on the turbo drain gasket, and it fires up tonight.

WOOHOO!!!!!!

i had to do something with the coolant line for the bypass.... it ran into the trans bellhousing using the transverse parts. we (Joey and I) spent some time with ETKA, and i decided to get the Passat Diesel 2003 line. Joey cut and modded the end, and VIOLA! done.

also had to get a longer lower radiator hose.... but i am ready to turn it on tonight i am pretty sure.

primed for oil pressure. 40-60 psi after about a minute.

fired up first try.

runs and idles great. i remembered to align the TB before i started it this time. you learn things doing it so much LOL.

17 in/hg on these solid cams @ idle, not too shabby.
15.xx AFR @ idle.
50 psi oil pressure @ idle.
14 v @ idle.

now to get this thing switched over to E85 after some ring seating work, and off to tune.

cranking to prime. priming the oil pump, gets 40+ psi on cranking. excellent.

and finally, the moment i have been waiting for for 7+ months, since 9-25-09. my car running again. firing it up very first try, is priceless.

Issam built the bottom end;

AZG 06A 2.0L block
billet main caps
girdle
86.4mm forged crank
150mm custom rods with 21mm wrist pins
83.5mm JE pistons
1.74 rod ratio, 1893cc.

Joey built the head;

AEB non-ported casting
CAT Billet solid lifter cams, 1003756 (the smallest solid grind, BTW)
CAT solid lifters
under-lifter lash caps
ST inconel exhaust valves, single groove
+1mm ST SS Nitrided intake valves, single groove
ST springs and retainers
CAT cam gear
full valve job, all documentation.

the cam card calls for 106/106 and we (Joey, Jerry, and Collin of Techtonics Tuning) dialed them in to run @ 112/112. ran them in Cam Doctor for the setup.

lastly, degreed the head and block together.

excellent stuff.....

Collin's got my complete confidence. He's the one that made the cam for us (in the evilwagon) back in the day.

Back to your car thanks that answers what I was curious about. I wasn't sure if it was short throw crank or finally a long throw

nope, no stroker here yet.

and its good to live ~40 minutes from TT..... haha. no shipping for me, just a lil country drive over there. :)

Joey is one sponsor for me, DoubleJMotorwerks. Jerry is a friend who is extremely knowledgeable on this stuff. and Collin, needs no intro. LOL

Joey keeps trying to give me 12v and 24v VR motors for the car, and i politely refuse. too much work to change over. i have way too much invested in the 4cyl arena to change now. so he gave me another 2.0L 06A block for the next project (Quattro in the rabbit) and we will stroke the motor with a small turbo for response.

we'll see.

thanks guys!!!!

on the dyno, i am not pushing it at all.

gonna take out 10 psi, 7-8 degrees, and go from there. make some nice flat even solid power, and run it a few times. if i dont drive it SOON, i am gonna get rid of it. i dont see how some guys can do a 3, 4, 5 year build. its driving me nuts that it has taken almost 2 years!!!! i did everything i could last year to get it on the track. but two motors in 4 weeks was the limit.

June 7th here i come.

hahaha.... remember, i am not stroker motor, John. i think the issue is when you stroke it.

then again, my pistons are also one-off custom built. for the 150mm rod, it takes a different pin height. and as well, the 21mm wrist pin. the amount they cost it best had be engineered into it if it were an issue.

i didnt drive it. warmed it up and shut it down. re-torque head later, tidy up some stuff.

like a clutch pedal stop (from scratch). and radiator fan (just gotta attach it to the new radiator). and wire the AWIC pump (lengthen wiring). front CV boot clamp-things. i saw a loose bolt but i already forgot where haha. i know what it looks like though ;)

oh yeah. after i dump the 5 minute oil, and filter, new VC gasket goes on and then its buttoned up. put the breather setup back together, and its completely re-assembled. new oil, the bigger diesel filter, and another pint of additive.

dump the C-16, and pull the 1000's to put in the 1600's. add E85, take it to a dyno.
