Yeah it runs. You just have to keep the pedal down. Sputters and small backfires but it runs. Guess I'm going to be fixing quite a few things NOW like I was planning to do over summer

bummer...were you running a cover? I only ask cause you dont have one on in the pic for your sig. If you werent, sounds like a good reason to run one now right? I have always stated for those who dont run one, this is one of the concequences of that. ITS NOT WORTH IT.

If you were, then good. seems weird you got a bolt in there. still dont know where its from?

Still dont know where it is from. No clue how long its been there. Never even heard a rattling.

All I can tell at this point with the cam off is that #1 exhaust is bent and #2 intake is bent. Intake wont be a problem but looks like I gotta order an exhaust valve from 034 because its SS and 34mm oversized. Do I need to change the MLS headgasket? I originally put a copper coating on it to begin with and my impression is that I can just respray it with copper and it's good to go. If not I'll just shell out more money that I dont have.

Looks like I'm going to true the exhaust manifold, and ceramic coat it while it's out and possibly get a heat coating (ceramic or whatever) on the intake as well. I figure I'll ceramic coat the turbo when Scubadave finally sends his Volvo k24 to me :)

Ill be sending it to you perhaps in a couple of months unless you need it right now. I can figure something out. Im not ready to tear into my engine yet and have a K5 blazer that needs cutting up before I can start. I am also FINALLY switching to swings and shitcanning the graveyards. almost 3 years on that crap. I was about ready to commit hari cari with a very dull rusty spoon. That and I cant get Hank to answer my pm's so I dont know if I will be running a billet K26 like I had hoped. I hope I havnt offended him. I always mean well but can be blunt sometimes. otherwise I will be talking to Marc and getting with him on something different. I really dont want to change my RS2 EM. I cannot afford to go to anything different. Give me an Idea when you want it and lets make a plan to shoot for. Ill punch Murphy in the face if he shows up!

I dont mess around with reusing headgaskets. honestly its moot. some will say they got away with it. is it worth taking a chance on having to redo it once again if it fails?

its what? less than 100$? hundred dollar insurance vs cost of more head work and bearings if not worse?

i say replace it.. but my 200 can afford to sit if i need more money to fix it. which is why its parked with no insurance as of two days ago :/

True True. Dave the only way I could take that turbo off your hands now was if you let me pay you in a few months. I know thats not really an option for 99.9% people but I'm just throwing it out there. When school ends and I'm working my 60 hours a week again I'll have plenty of money for performance in the Audi and the Dodge combined. Dodge is paid off now so more freed up money.

but in order to fully enjoy that turbo upgrade you need to go EFI. you may as well aquire the parts first and have everything ready for a one shot build. I can hang till then. Im not pulling the turbo until I pull the turbo. I trust you would come through, but neither of us are ready for that yet.

Right exactly with the EFI. I dont need it right now nor do I really want to deal with changing components right now. I figure I'm going to spend at least $150 fixing this shit and perhaps another $125 locally for the ceramic coating. I might get lucky with the machine shop and they might true the exhaust manifold for a killer deal since they are doing all the machine work on the small block for the Dodge.

Question......

Dodge is getting a 408 stroker to begin with. But the question is.....high compression N/A (10.5 - 11 CR) or go 9.5 and put a big ass turbo on it?!

9.5:1 is 4 points over stock to begin with. I doubt I would lose any response especially withthe +48 cubes. Thought about supercharging but then reliability and longevity goes down. Crank distortion, bearing wear, cost, etc

Looking like a $265 - $300 fix with the ceramic coating on the manifold. Maybe even a little bit more if I do the intake manifold too.

The exhaust manifold is going to get trued as well. New studs, etc etc etc to prevent the current issues.

I guess all and all after I've calmed down, it's not as bad as you would think. It's just the time I don't have and would rather be putting the headers on my truck ya know? That or studying :slap:

The actual damage is cheap. Good news is there will be less work over the summer to do on the car

WHAT A FRIGGEN BITCH THIS CAR IS NOW.

I've got about 4-6 hours already into the tear down and the head still isn't off. All that is left to do is drain the coolant and undo the headstuds. OYE.

On the bright side, I did find where the coolant was leaking out slowly. Turns out the leak was where the upper radiator hose goes to the head.
